Region3
Ryder Cup Winner
Today I got up at 6 o'clock, drove to the course in the dark, and missed out on a couple of hours practice for an important pool match which started at 12, to play in a competition that I wasn't eligible to win.
Why?
Because I've only played in 2 h'cap qualifying comps since getting my handicap. The club has a rule which says you must have played in 3 qualifying comps in the last 12 months in order to win anything. It's a good rule imo and I 100% agree with it.
I had asked different people (that should have known imo) if todays comp was h'cap qualifying, and been told yes.
The reason I was so keen to play my 3rd is that most of the stuff over the winter is not h'cap qualifying so I wouldn't be allowed to enter (or it would be pointless).
Anyway, I played the best I'd played since I started up playing again a few months ago, a shot a gross 75 including 3 dropped shots on the last 3 holes.
Great I thought, now qualified for comps and a cut as well
I looked online a few hours ago to see how much I'd been cut and it says this...
Competition Scratch Score = Non-Qualifying (Men)
