Smiffy
Grand Slam Winner
Had the pleasure of playing at Sundridge Park yesterday with Leftie, JustOne and Auburn Warrior.
Superb day, (thanks Rog). Course was in fantastic condition (as it always is) and the usual excellent banter.
Didn't play particularly well (flashes of mediocrity interspersed with total and utter crap) but was treated to an absolutely superb display of driving by Dave (Auburn Warrior).
I don't think I can ever remember playing with anybody who was hitting the ball that consistently off the tee....ever
By his own admission, his iron play let him down a little, although he was still spanking the ball well.
But his driving....

I played with a PGA pro at Chartham Park a few weeks ago who played exceptionally well. He was stonking the ball off the tee. But I would go as far as to say that Daves driving yesterday was better, just for it's consistency. Good length but everything went exactly where he wanted it to go. Bearing in mind he had never played the course before, the 16th and 17th holes at Sundridge are two doglegs where taking on the trees will reap big rewards. He took them both on and placed his ball brilliantly in the middle of the fairway both times.
Well done Dave. It was a pleasure to be there and witness it. I hope you have a great time on Monday at The London Club.
Thanks also to Roger and James for their company. As I say, a great day all round.
Shame I played like a total and utter knob.
Clubs going away for the winter methinks
