Best 9 hole course you have played

I live in Dorset and I tend to play on 18 hole courses. There is one nine hole course locally called Parley Court Golf Club. It is pretty awful mostly. Playing it twice is 4937 yards! But it is the best nine hole course I have played on. If anyone has played here, just reply with quote.

Southport Old Links.. Very fast draining sandy soil, with 18 tees and just enough variety to make it feel like 18 holes.. Nice finishing hole as well...

+1 for this or Mobberly in Cheshire is worth a go. Formby Hall has a cracking 9 hole par 3 course as well. It's signature hole is a replica of the 17th at Sawgrass...

1 in Scotland. Gairloch really nice when the wind isn't howling.

1 in England Sutton Bridge. Love the course and the old Victorian dock wall round the basin of the course.

Never played the course but use the range there regularly :)

Yep, like d4s go to the range there, I've not played the course.

They've got some pretty big plans by all accounts. Extending the course and the range, and making a dedicated short game area.

I forgot Sutton Bridge, possibly the most unique course I have played. How many places do you get to play to a green on the top of a dock wall

Anyone played the Balgove course at St Andrews?

Doesn't look anything special but have a couple of days there with HID and keen to get her out on a course. Good for a beginner?

It's a field with some tees and holes - but ideal for a beginner - not too long and not too many holes! Avoid School holidays.

I've not played it myself but but know a couple of families that do, they like it. It's a beginner and family course. More akin to a pitch and putt with some short par 4's thrown in. The greens are generally in decent condition and it's the only course in St Andrews that isn't using mats at the moment. I'm tempted to give it a go myself one day, I've heard it has some fun challenge about it and isn't as easy as it appears.

It will close for frost but there are other options for playing within a few miles if that happens. I'm local, feel free to get in touch if you get stuck.

Cheers! :) Just going to have a cheeky couple of nights in the Old Course hotel as a new year treat. Don't want to abandon HID to play but think it might be a good opportunity to restart her golf now she's recovered from injury.
