a new thread on courses , The Best 9 hole you have played , I have played a few from
Yeovil
Southampton Muni
Ferndown Presidents Course
The 9 hole At Canford Magna , all Par 3
Poultons Park
Iford Bridge , Now part of Iford GC 18 hole
A few in Ireland which the names escape me

Just to name a few
The best for me has to be Burley In the New Forest , Cracking course with 18 tee boxes and always nice to play there ,

Have you played any and where ............:)

The 9 holer at Blairgowrie, some great holes on there.

there's quite a lot of courses up here that were once 9 holers and are now 18 and pretty much all of them would have been better tests as just 9 holes.

My favourite is New Galloway. It's not the greatest course, the 1st, 2nd and 9th holes are up/down an almighty great hill, but it's got a wild feel to it, great views, some interesting holes and is a real friendly club (on the rare occasion there is someone there rather than just the honesty box!).

It helps that my folks are from that part of the world and I have all sorts of nostalgic childhood memories of learning to play golf there.

Meon Valley
Cams Hall
The Old course at Leckford
Gosport and Stokes Bay (technically 10 holes but its an odd bizarre course that's very memorable)
Tournerbury on Hayling Island
Rustington in Sussex

Have to agree with Patrick, our 9 hole course is a great wee test with some cracking holes and is always in great condition.

Agreed. Burley is a cracker. Have only played it once so need to get back there at some point!

Another thumbs up for Burley, interesting design and greens are usually very good as well.

New Galloway is very interesting too. Typical Scottish moorland type course with boulders breaking through the surface, seen a few wayward shots ricochet off into the distance after hitting them

Alton Golf Club in Hampshire. Old and very mature course with some interesting holes. Generally in good condition, and only £10 for 9 holes or £15 for 18. (meets my less than one pound per hole criteria!) :)

Might have to pay that a visit as i like playing a new course now and again and thats not too far from me.

Ive only played, Mount pleasent in Stondon. Its a bit naff.

Played a few 9's but St Geran golf course stands out for me

Its a resort course but was designed by Gary Player some years ago, every fairway is lined with palm trees left and right except the one that is edged by views out to the Indian ocean

Coincidentally I'm playing it for only the 2nd time this weekend. Only drawback last time was the heat on the day meant the walk just about did for me so I'm taking the precaution of a caddy this time

I have played a couple of 9 holers that I like. The first is the one at Rutland Water Golf Club. Once you get past the first couple of holes, the views over the water are superb and it offers and interesting challenge.

The other is Sudbrooke Moor near to me. A great little course aimed at giving everyone the chance to play golf. It is cheap to play and welcomes everyone (and that is not a bad thing despite what some might think). A nice mix of par 3 and par 4 holes that are just fun to play and always in decent nick

Possibly the 'Pines' layout from Forest Pines. Ok, I playes it as part of a 18 hole round, but it is a 9 hole stretch in it's own right. In fact, all 3 loops at Forest Pines are pretty damn good.

Flempton is also a decent 9-holer, and always empty!

St Georges Hill......

Used to be an 18 hole & a 9 hole, the 9 hole was open to joe public. we used to play it nearly every Saturday morning when I first started playing golf, had to drop £4 through the pro shop letterbox before going out - absolutely cracking little gem. Eventually they stopped that, redeveloped it and now have the three loops you see today.
