Beeeffff!

Come into a thread late and replied quoting someone before reading all six pages!

I think he's good for the game. Mates of mine who aren't even into golf have stopped him in Euston station just to get a photo with him (we are the selfie generation after all & I'm 37!). Apart from the beard and teeth, I like him and think that love it or hate it, he's what out game needs.

The interview just now shows the sort of person Beef is and how great he is for the game. Just love the sport , misses playing with his Swindle mates and just can't wait to get back to play in The Open - brilliant bloke and character

As for his ability - well this time two years ago he was starting life out again on the ET - right now he has a win on tour after his three on the challenge tour plus a great first comp at The Open. Can see him winning more and I really hope he can get into the Ryder Cup because he would be brilliant

no chance of the Ryder cup. Would have to be a pick. At least 25 better euro golfers than him

Went to a golf show few weeks back and Shane was being interviewed he recalled being asked a question at a tournament re Paul Dunne

Paul had played 2 good rounds & was well placed , round 3 he was +2 or something and the lady asked Shane , do u think he will make it .. Shanes answer , He is making a living out of golf & has a tour card , i think he has already made it ..

Not sure what the expectations of Beef were but i think youl find someone new com es along under the radar and makes a splash golf wise & personality wise , then the media jump on it and its easy for a newbie to get lost a bit in enjoying it ..

He is in the top 1% of golfers in the world & will earn a comfortable living at it , how good he will be only time will tell , but somewhere along the line the work etic will have to get a bit harder or he will fall in to the journeymen group , all be it the very rich journeymen group

Plenty of golfers who you would say weren't in the top 25 in Europe have played and been successful in the Ryder Cup. Beef is more than capable of picking up enough points to qualify and even certainly a player that a captain could easily pick

I don't see how mate. If he's playing PGA tour he's gonna struggle to accumulate enough points. So many better golfers that will be ahead of him unless he has a stand out year like Donaldson did as a one hit wonder.

Couldn't give a hoot. He's the most down to earth persona to have played on the tour for years/ever. Not the best ever but certainly the person you would want to explain life on tour. Love him.

I always figured if Tiger couldnt get kids into golf, who could? It has zip to do with integrity, image, social media, what ever. Billionaire, boffing loads of fluff. If that doesnt get kids into it, nothing will. Its cheap, but heck, its what it is.

But in interviews, interaction with the media and fans, and his general on and off course demeanour, Tiger comes across as having the personality of a week-old dog turd!!

I like Beef - he may turn out to be no better than your average PGA/European Tour pro in terms of ability, picking up a win here and there, but I like him and he's certainly a breath of fresh air for the game.

Beef was excellent on the Sky coverage of golf over the weekend

Really refreshing views and never lost for words. Wish him all the success in the world, would love to see him get a victory or 2 this year so he gets the chance to play more PGA events.

But will he meet the qualifying criteria, even in co-sanctioned events?

Didn't they change it so it was only 4 or 5 events and they can't be the majors or the WGCs? So basically Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Wentworth and say the French Open. They didn't mention anything regarding if you don't get in them so I think its just a flat 4 events you have to play.

Agree but Beef really needs to step it up now with the tournaments he gets into,he's got a huge personality but also has an awesome golf game that the Americans havent yet seen.

Yep, very refreshing and so much better than McGinley or Coltart

Yup 4 tournaments need to be played excluding the majors and WGC's. Don't think he played any of the middle east swing, would have thought he'll play wentworth, Scottish open, British masters, then only needs to find one more event. But if he does well enough in the bigger co sanctioned events and the open and gets into the top 60 on the race to Dubai, then he'll get the 3 final series events to make up, but will likely play more around continental Europe.

He was good on sky, not as natural as Radar when following groups and the sections they do on the course, but that is to be expected first time out. He had some good thoughts on what the players will/should do on shots. If he gets a few more goes at it then he'll soon come into his element and will do good on TV, once his playing career is over. Much like Radar and Rich Beem.

If he is doing the British Masters, then the Dunhill Links ties in well with that
