Ball Snobs

Yesterday on the 3rd hole I found a virtually new Penta.
Still played the TM Burner I began with and shot 74
Today, didn't find any balls but the Penta was still in the bag along with some ProVs, Z-Stars and what did I play?
A slightly beaten up Cally HX Hot and shot 75.
I'll save all these "decent" balls until the Spring.

I don't mind what ball I play but it is always a premium one. I have got boxes of Callaway Tour i(z) with my company logo on and use these currently. They are really good. If I fancy a change I will use ProV1's. If I find a Penta I will use it and I did like the Bridgestone B330 that I found too. I used to play with Z Stars but less so these days.

I get given quite a few sleeves of balls at events and things. I usually just give them to mates. Same for any balls I find. I have got thousands of practice balls and never practice so now just give anything away that isn't a top spec ball.

Not sure if this makes me a ball snob or not. Don't care either!

Must admit I am still looking for THE ball for me. Want low spin of the driver. But plenty of spin with the short irons. Must also have a soft feel, not be like hitting a stone. So far I have been using Nike pd soft for winter. Cally tour ix, in summer. But if I find something better I will change.

My ball snobbery goes as far as not playing penfolds or commandos
Anything else can get into my bag.

I'll gladly take any unwanted balls from you balls snobs :)

If i ever get down to single figures i might become more picky

Don't religously stick to one kind, I tend to go through phases!

Started the summer with Bridgestone B330s which is a great ball.

Then used NXT Tour for a while, nothing special.

Currently using Cally HX Diablo Tour. Found one and played with it and really like it so bought some to try. Really good ball actually.

I am definitely a ball snob. I only use Pro V1x's and nothing else. Even Pro V1's get throw into the practice bag.

I'm thinking of changing though as I swear the new Pro Vs are even worse than the old ones at getting cut up... Each ball last 12-15 holes at the absolute max and usually closer to 5-6 before its just got too many cuts to continue with. I'm just going through so many at the moment and the cost is ridiculous. Need to find a ball thats similar in its properties/feel to the Pro V1x but just more durable. I swear Titleist have done it on purpose aswell!! And to be fair to them, its probably a genius move....

Not a ball snob. Will try and use premium brands in the summer and prefer Z Star XV or Pro V1x but happy to use any of the others. Getting to a big fan of Bridgestone B330 RXS and despite their firmer feel will use a Cally as well

Anything over a two quid per ball is expensive. If it's under that, I'll try it.

and then dismiss it as rubbish compared to DX or Srixon, of which I'll play any.

I was playing in a comp and both of us hit our balls into a bunker. We were both playing Pro V 1's , they were both a number 2. We called the course ref to decide who's ball was who's. After a few minutes of consideration he said:

"Who's playing the yellow ball" :)

I've been settled with Srixon Lady Soft Feel balls for quite a while now. For hitting over water when I'm not playing so well, I keep a supply of decent balls which I've found or bring out a Dunlop Loco. I think I read somewhere that you're better off hitting a new, lower grade ball than an ancient quality one?

I know that it was true of wound balls that as they got older they lost performance even if they were unused. I too wonder if this applies to modern balls.

I probably count as a ball snob. Especially as I recently cleared out my practice ball bag so that it only contains PROV1s and a few other premium balls. I figured that as I spend most of my practice time on my short game (it needs it I tell you) I might as well use the same balls I play with. The club has also recently improved the short game practice area and we chip onto a proper green (used to be the 7th) so you can see the difference.

My brand of choice is Srixon!

I've only recently started playing reguarly, so I am still trying out the 'Distance', 'Soft Feel' & 'AD333' etc.

I'm thinkimg that my ball of choice for the winter may become the AD333's, and the summer possibly the TriSpeeds!!!

Not a ball snob, but definitely settled on Srixon XV yellows. Yellow stands out like a honeymooner's tackle in the rain or dull weather. Plus you know it's your ball as no one else plays yellow ;)

i only use TM XD's. purely for the fact of when i first brought some i had my best ever round with it. so ordered in bulk off the net. any balls i find i keep and use, real naff ones get tee'd off into the sea but most i keep

gone right off Prov1's, heard the bridgeston b330S is like a prov1x except doesnt go as yellow/faded and low driver spin with higher spin for irons, that sounds like the chappy for me
