Ball in play but unable to get it.

Played at Wollaton on Friday and a pp put his ball into a clump of trees. He found it and could play it. but I had a bit of a giggle. Someone else had hit there ball into the trees, but around all of these trees was heavy duty meshing, which the squirrels were using to great effect as ladders. I think the mesh is there to protect the younger trees from the deer. Anyway there was a ball which was between the mesh and tree. There was no way you could get it without vandalism being involved.

Now there is probably a local ruling. but if you don't know it what would be the sensible thing to do. Free drop no nearer the hole.

Without an LR, then Drop would be under penalty!

Almost certain to be an LR though.

In the absence of an obvious local rule, then provided the ball can be correctly identified, then you can take the unplayable options and substitute a ball. If there is a local rule, follow that.

As Sammmebee suggests, in the absence of any LR you just take relief under 24-2 (without penalty)

Suddenly had a re-think and yes, in absence of a local rule, the mesh would presumably be an immovable obstruction. (Got too bogged down with the first bit about being in middle of a bush).
