Why worry? What ordinary player is going to putt while there is a ball wedged against the flagstick which would obviously stop his own ball going in?

Perhaps it garnered 40 posts just because it sparked an interest and not necessarily anything to do with the 'rights and wrongs'. Its a 'Forum' people chime in to have a say - its not life and death.
