Bacon, bacon and more bacon! Could you, would you?

Want quick weight loss? Get yourself into ketosis and it's easy. Your appetite will disappear but your pee and breath will stink for the duration.

Then after a few weeks of weight, bring yourself slowly back onto a sensible diet and just resist the urge to eat loads.

If you are overweight and go on a bacon diet then maybe you will lose weight quickly but what happens when you stop the diet, as you have to with such a one dimensional diet? If you don't change your diet and lifestyle from before then surely the weight will just go back on. Most evidence I have heard suggests you end up heavier after a fad diet when you stop it. Eat properly, exercise and the weight will naturally reduce and stay off long term.

I know there are loads of fads out there, and they may all have some merit as much as they have other issues. I'm not convinced by any of them as an option to try though, especially not this one, even as a bacon eater. I was just really surprised to hear from my mate that he had done it. Personally, I'm in the "eat anything in moderation" camp.

I went on a diet from a very young age.

It was called 'a balanced diet'.

Worked wonders, you eat some of everything, nothing extreme. A typical dinner may include some meat, some potatos and some veg.

Revolutionary really!

Have you thought of doing a book? Perhaps a 6 episode tv series, a DVD?

Just eating protein is basically the Atkins diet. One of those doc's on the TV did it and it works. As MIB says. Cut out carbs!!!! I'd eat some veg as well. I've cut out a meal a day (lunch) and don't drink in the week, but do what I like at the weekend. The misses said that me fat gut is disappearing.

people that say cut out carbs do make me laugh.

what are fruit and veg absolutely rammed with? CARBS!!!

This is the exact reason any trendy/fad diets dont work long term. Few mates of mine paid thousands and did one called LighterLife, i think they had meals and shakes provided for 2-3 months. Once over, they ballooned again. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, a proper lifestyle change is required for good.

Got a mate who did the same diet and I know a lass that did it as well. Both lost sheds loads of weight as you have to drink up 3 litres of water a day and you're limited to something like 500 calories per day. My mate did it lost several stone you could see a big big difference, but he didn't follow the regime to introduce proper food and soon filled out again. The lass did it the proper way, no cheat meals, followed the plan exactly, reintroduced proper food gradually as per plan ad she gained a little weight couple of pounds but she managed to keep 99% of the weight she lost off.
