Back to the Future! TaylorMade fitting opportunity

GM never inform when stated for various factors usually outwith their remit- just have patience young padewans, good things come to those that wait.

but then again I have (still!) 7 of the 8 listed clubs in the Aeroburner section (plus an RBZ) - but they waited too long to set all this up and I am happy with my SLDR now so didn't enter :)

the lucky four to be selected are...
James Anderson
Lee Faulkener
Martin Timbrell (Martin70)
Scott Darlington

only one forumer... you're all too into buying new gear for this one!

Thanks Mike for the opportunity - I will make sure I leave a review on here it sounds amazing.

Managed to complete my round today without damaging the r5 :)

Surprised at one of those names, as he was custom fitted for an SLDR last year at the Belfry by a magazine ;)

.... although the one I know has a slightly different spelling of his surname that what is listed.

What an experience that was. I've never been on a trackman or anything like it and was a bit apprehensive at the start but the guy doing the session Liam was superb.

Started with some drives with my R5 and they weren't very impressive but the last one went 218 which isn't far off what my Game Golf rounds tell me which average 220-230.

Liam said from the figures my biggest problem was that the spin rate was huge - over 4000 on most when the optimum is 1700 and I should be aiming for 2000-2300. The other figure was the smash factor was a little low at 1.4 and I should try and get it up closer to 1.5. As I understand it this one measures the transfer of energy to the ball - relying on the quality of the strike more than the speed.

So next up was the R15 driver which he said was designed to promote lower spin. Took a few drives to get used to it but then the figures went soaring up - into the 240's and finished at 255. My spin rate had come down to 1680 promoting a huge high 5 from Liam - honestly he looked as chuffed as me. I loved the look of the club and it made a great sound when you hit it.

We finished with my nemesis shot - the 3 wood off the deck. This was the new Aeroburner and I promptly topped the first one down the range about 80 yards. Liam asked if I did that a lot to which I had to admit that I did and it's a big weakness in my game - I am usually good off the tee with woods but not off the floor.

He then told me my attack angle was too steep - probably way too steep and got me to take the club back lower and sweep round with it more - after 2 or 3 attempts to get used to it suddenly I was smashing it down the range consistently and ended up sending the last one 231 - I can honestly say I have never hit a 3 wood off the floor longer than 200.

What an eye opener - not only can I not wait to receive the R15 but I've got some invaluable instruction to take away as well.

The other lads ended up enjoying themselves too I can't recommend the experience highly enough.

As a bonus Johan Carlsson popped in to show us how it was done and was smashing it 320 and gave us a signed cap too. I've never been close up to a pro hitting the ball before - what a noise it made at impact - his swing speed was over 120. Nice chap and was happy to chat.

Thanks to Mike, Jake, Liam, Jess and Kevin the photographer - what a brave man he is standing in front of us lot taking photos.

Nice to read Martin - sounds like you've had a real satisfactory day. Here's hoping the new found 'powers' will help you eat into your handicap

Same one.. must have found an R7 in the garage! LOL he does love a comp more than you and me BT!

dufferman :D

Unlikely.. I think it was Dufferman's wedding last week and he is on his 2 week honeymoon. Hence the radio silence from him..

However, knowing Duffernman, he probably went to a honeymoon at a golf resort and took his Cally ball face mask with him..

Haha! Yes he's not one of the ones listed.

He has been fitted for two SLDRs by different mags though, as well as winning various other things.
