Have tried to upload an avatar from another site (golf related one) but the box stays blank. Seems only the stock avatars work

Anyone know why, do they have to be ok'd by Mike before they can be displayed?

It seems to have to be a very small pic to be able to load one, I have cut down pics as small as I can and yet it still doesnt use them because they are too big.

This is what i thought but how do you count 80x80 pixels with out getting sore eyes?

use photoshop to resize to 80 x 80 ?

i just found a website that resizes images but it wont even take 60x60 or 40x40. Nevermind

I used a small Gif emote from another forum and it wont even use that.

I went through this myself a couple of weeks ago. You don't need to cut it down in Photoshop. There are many sites that offer 80x80 avatars (thousands of them) for free - just help yourself.

Resizing a image in photoshop can actually make it 'fatter' if you're not careful about the compression algorythms you use
Ive tried uploading the same avatars to other forums i'm on and they work no problems

IMHO the problem is with the site.

Maybe it's something that might get addressed in the forthcoming refurb (hint hint )

I'm sure this has been mentioned before many times and I believe that unless you use their pre-loaded pics, it ain't gonna work.

The website rebuild should take care of this and a bunch of other stuff. Long overdue, in all fairness but I'm looking forward to it (as long as they get rid of those bloody pop-ups!)

The lack of avatars has been a bone of contention for about 8 months and I think it should be sorted when the new improved forum is opened by the Queen sometime next month.

I hope to God she doesn't try and sell something in her first post as we will all be up for treason.

I have noticed though, that the most recent spammer has received a whopping 32 replies to his post already.

yeah but with no good material for him, however it has give us somethin to chuckle about!
