• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

At what point does all the gear and no idea become defunct?

I say each to their own, buy what u want and the Best Quality you can afford
Nothing like that bothers me, only when I see people with 'badly fitted' clubs.....ie 8.5deg driver, stiff shaft, with a huge slice........dont take a rocket scientist

But what does get me, is, the guy turning up, looking like Ian Poulter, all Bright Jazzy clothes, then proceeds to top it round the course, or hit it sideways.......just comical

Yeah lol but people who dress like polter are knobs anyway like the man himself.

Admin please dont ban me for the word Knob ive seen loads of people use it.... Im already on a warning :-(

When you're consistently playing to or below your handicap.

It's funny when you do see these players with brand new top gear and they top their tee shots or take 5 out the bunker :) :)

Oh dear not another dissapointed Liverpool fan are you??? then again Everton are worse so it cant be good for you either way lol

Disappointment is something I've got used to, but come 10pm Wednesday hopefully we'll be in the final of the mickey mouse cup with a chance of putting silverware on the table.

i'm not entirely sure,i reckon if you can afford to buy the stuff then go ahead.who are we to judge whether someone should be using certain clubs or not.

the same can be said about what cars people buy,how many on here have cars that they don't really need or can barely drive them to their potential even if they were allowed to.for instance i know a guy locally who has all the money in the world and flash fast motors but drives like a girl even when he tries to push on.....i give him all sorts of trouble in the 1.1 106 and it's pathetic.

To me it only applies when you are new to the game and turn up with all the wrong sparkling gear, and have an attitude more shiny than the clubs you're carrying :whoo:

It's the same principle with football boots, my best mate (who's not very good at football) bought a pair of orange and yellow boots, our pe teacher just smiled and said "you better be a good player to play in those" and he got absolutely crucified by the rest of the lads... In all seriousness though if you have the money and lime something then it's no one else's place to tell you what you can or can't buy
