Seriously? This is perhaps the most effective way I could think of to demonstrate a total lack of understanding about football.

You don't have to score a hat-trick or lay on a dozen goals every game to be incredibly effective. Messi is without question the best footballer on the planet.

I agree... Messi did so much work off the ball it was astonishing. If that means keeping yourself out of the way because you know that 2, or sometimes 3, opposition team players will be marking you, then that's the mark of a footballer who totally understands the game.

Did you wonder why barca had so much room to play in the first 30 mins... because half the team were trying to contain one man from barca!
