I can understand younger members not being asked to pay a JF, but would not be happy if older females were not expected to pay a JF.
Women already benefit from not having to wait as long as men at plenty clubs.

This is a really interesting point to me, it being a privilege to be a member of your club.
I don’t see it like that at all, I am a paying customer (that’s the way I see it, not disagreeing with your point), and as such the privilege is with the club to have my custom rather than the other way around.
If the product that they offer isn’t of the standard I deem acceptable for the money it costs me, I’d be off in a flash.
I didn’t mean to be contentious, genuinely interesting post for me

If the club is a business that is different to a members club to me.

I can't see why people can complain about the oil companies making extra profits this year, but not being bothered about a golf club doing the same thing with joining fees.

I think there is possibly a debate to be had around joining fees, their justification and circumstances of the club etc. But... drawing a parallel with gluttonous oil companies is bizarre!
