Are Srixon AD-333's right for me?

I posted in the ask the experts section a few weeks back about getting too much height with pretty much all of my clubs and experiencing almost balloning with my shots.

I lost one of my tee shots last night and ended up using a Pro-V1 that I'd found earlier and, unsure whether my swing was different or if the ball does actually make that much difference, I had a much much better ball flight with it.

It stayed a lot lower than my normal shots and I did seem to get an extra 15yds carry on where I normally am off the tee on that hole.

So my question is this: would a different ball suit me better than the AD-333's and how do you find out/tell if a ball is right for you? Is it a case of getting some and trying them out or is there a kind of 'dummies guide to ball choosing' when it comes to the ball you need?

I have to admit the only reason I started using AD-333's was I found one ages ago when I used to use TM Burner Red's and the 333's seemed straighter.

Any help?

I'm sure someone will be on with a cool link to a "choose your ball" page (keep it clean folks), I'll have a look and see if I've stashed it somewhere, here is the titlesit specific one

Interesting to see how little distance difference there is between balls, when many would have you believe its massive. Personally I love the ProV1s though many would say I'm not really getting the most out of them, then every now and then I spin an 8 iron dead on the spot and its totally worth it ;) There's no substitute for just playing a few holes with a ball, you'll know fairly quickly if you get on with it or not, pick em up cheap off ebay and if you like em buy new, as much as manufacturers would have us believe their ball is the best the best ball for you is the one you feel most confident with. That mine comes with a massive price tag is my problem ;) But then I pick up one hit wonders from ebay for a pound a ball for social play and don't lose many so its worth it to know I'm playing with a ball I trust

Me either, until last night when I lost 2 balls, I hadnt lost one for approx 6 rounds, so if I have to buy some and dont get on with them I'm either stuck with them or throwing money down the drain lol

Or just buy a sleeve of three?!

Can't find the golf ball chart, do you know your swing speed etc? Think its fairly important if youre going to use the chart

IMO the AD-333 are right for everybody! Cracking ball at a great price. I found though that as I got better I required more from a ball as the course got firmer. I will be playing the AD333s for a long time to come over the winters but in the summer and autumn when the course is firm and dry a ball with more check is required.

So for general play on soft ground anyone can use the AD333 to great success, for a firmer course things then become more compacted if you want to start having more precision around the green.

I have found several better balls than the 333. TM Burner TP and lately the Bridgestone e6, I find it much more responsive than the 333 and the BTP.
Soft enough for good control but surprisingly straight and long off the tee. I played 3 balls off the 2nd tee a week ago and measured each. 333 - 246yds, BTP - 252yds and e6 - 268yds. All felt like good out of the centre hits.

I use AD333 all the time, initially because the majority of people at the club were using Titleist and given the cost I thought i would try the srixon one, like the feel of it, good quality and at about 15.00 per 12 good value for money.

KeefG, interesting you got a lower flight with a ProV1. I basically use a ProV1x and will switch occasionally to the AD333 if I'm not playing well and don't fancy losing a V1x in the water. I have found the V1x and AD333 very similar off the tee, they don't spin too much so if you hit a curly one it doesn't go too far off. The flight for both is almost identical and a bit lower than the ProV1. Have to say that the ProV1x feels a lot nicer around the greens compared to the AD333 but that's just personal preference. The AD333 is just a very good all rounder.

A perfect winter ball for me although I've got some TM Penta 3's I want to try but with the courses firming up I might save them now until Autumn and compare them in a practice round side by side with the AD333's

I think AD333s are good, but I can't putt with them....
I'm convinced they are for serial short-of-the-hole putters.

:(

I played with them over the winter and really liked them, before i didn't get on with them but that was more my fault as every time I teed one up I lost it lol. I do find them very clicky off the putter though. Had a ball fitting with titleist at golf live and recommended the prov1x. Shock horror recomended an expensive ball lol. But they should be similar less spin more distance but a thinner softer cover for around and on the greens, they kindly gave me two to sample, plus two normal prov1s.

Funnily enough I've done the online proV sorry Titleist fitting and it didn't matter what options I put in it was always proV1 or proV1x with the alternative ball being the other one.

Currently using Nike PD Soft.
Nice cheap ball that's simply good enough for my standard of play. Used to play AD 333's and tried the AD 333 Soft Feel.
I have to say I prefer the soft balls better.
As I said, at my level I don't buy this "Oh it has better feel!" mullarky. I just need good quality cheap balls as it's a bonus if I complete my round with the same ball I started out with!
