Or is it just me?!

I'm usually pretty consistant at about 150 yds with my 7 iron. However, I always use it on the 160 yd par 3 at my course, using the same swing, and it's plenty of club, even going through the back when the wind is behind!

Are irons longer off a tee peg?

You are likely to get a cleaner strike off a tee which may result in a bit more distance.

Is the tee slightly raised? Could get extra distance due to slope.

It's not raised and is over a big lake. Maybe I just give it a bit of extra welly as I'm scared of the splash!!!

It's a possibility. There is an ideal sweet spot on the face and if off the deck you are a few mm lower/higher than ideal, but off a tee, you are bang on, then I'd say yes. Depends on the iron probably?
I tee my irons up on a small tee (4-5 mm) only. They come out a tad higher but really clean and generaly straighter.
