Are Footjoy cutting quality?

I have had 3 pairs of Footjoy Dry Joys and they have been tremendous. Waterproof and comfortable. I do treat them every so often to improve their water repellency. Can't complain really

As I wrote in the review section, I have a pair of FJ M-Project spiked, in the wet they are rubbish. I will most certainly not be purchasing any FJ footwear again.

I've not had a great run with most shoes but FootJoy don't seem too bad in general.

I don't mind wet feet and a bit of trench foot when they look this cool!

The pro at my club when I returned my leaking pair said that acushnet had laid off quite a few people this year, might have something to do with it

I have had the odd pair of FJ or two. I tend to go for the top end (Icon, Dryjoy) and never had any issues but I know a lot of members that have bought the Sport and M Project and had issues with splitting. I'm not saying there is anything in the more expensive shoe being better quality as some on here have had issues with Dryjoy but I do wonder if cheaper materials and quicker production methods are leading to quality issues

Just a quick look at random HJS and the Contours are around £70 - I bought mine around Easter time and frankly it's pretty bad that they leak like a sieve in dewy conditions.

Totally agree that any shoe costing £70 should last at least the duration of their one year guarantee.

Evening all
an interesting thread that I've highlighted to the guys at FJ and asked for their thoughts on the issues some forumers have experienced.
will let you know when I hear back from FJ

I ususally buy a pair of AQL's about every year.
To be fair, they work hard and I don't treat them as well as I probably should.
Recently they've not been very waterproof......

Might move on next time - been buying FJ's for about 15 years...

I have to say that I used to be committed to FJ but then had the boa lacing system fail on one pair and my dry joy tours leak and the leather has stretched so they no longer fit well. Have been far more impressed with my Nike and Mizuno purchases this year. Sadly I suspect that the day's of having one pair of shoes that last a few years is passing as golf shoes become another disposable item that we are expected to replace every year at least. I saw this with rugby boots. They became lighter with better leather etc but they hardly lasted a season as durability was not high on the list of design priorities.

I've had 3 pair of FJ Sports replaced over the last 4 years.

They are comfortable and look good but i won't buy another pair of sports once these have been worn out.

The very 1st pair of sports they released had lots of issues and they had a certain colour inner sole (grey i think) but they changed them with a patterned inner sole.

Bought dryjoys tour last year.

First round, split and leaked so replaced.

Second round with new shoes, split and leaked so replaced.

Third round with new shoes..... You know the rest.

Bought nike lunar control and never looked back, no issues at all. On my 3rd pair of nike shoes now and, although they look like a fancy varucca sock (tw13) all of them are spot on, very comfortable and absolutely waterproof despite me not looking after them at all.

Many people at my place have issues with FJ, sports, contours and dryjoys tour seem the main culprits......

I've only had one pair of FJs, my current AQLs.

They're coming to the end of their second season and are still going strong and no problems yet with leaking. I give them the occasional rub with dubbing during wet weather but apart from that they get little attention.

My £35 Greenjoys aren't quite as comfortable as my Nikes but I have taken them out in driving rain, puddles and snow (!) and they have never let me down.

Question for everyone, how do you keep your golf shoes ? Are they cleaned, aired and dried before being put into storage or are they left to moulder in the boot of the car until next use ?

I've a pair of dryjoys that must be almost four years old. Granted, I use lighter shoes in the summer, but these dryjoys see the worst of the early season, late season and winter conditions. I clean them, dry them and treat them and they still go on and on. I've a pair of High Tec shoes I use in summer and do the same with them, they are into their third season. With the cost of golf shoes nowadays, I look after them as I'm certainly not looking to shell out £100 every season on shoes.

PS Greenjoys are excellent in mid winter for keeping the feet dry

Shoes brought into the house, if wet dried out with newspaper away from heat, then cleaned and polished, shoe trees put in and into their bag ready for next time. Mine are Softjoys and not had wet feet at all even when playing in rain that ducks wouldn't go out in.

Theres always going to be the few/exceptions that are delighted with their purchase, thats a given, however it would have been unthinkable 5 years ago for a thread like this about probably the #1 golf shoe manufacturer.

We used to aspire to get a pair of Footjoys and proudly wore them on the first tee. Changed days indeed.

I never even used to have to try them on before, when I needed/wanted the new FJ's I just ordered 9.5 wide and got a perfect fit that I could walk thru puddles with and be dry (DryJoys), now even the morning dew has me squelching....

Real shame as I pretty much saw Titleist/FJ/Acushnet as the company of quality
