I bought a pair of Footjoy Contours around April time and wore them yesterday when, as 1st out, the grass was quite wet for much of the round. Result .... Left foot soaked and right foot damp. The pro changed them straight away but am I right with the header as Footjoy have always served me well in the past?

Same thing happened to me. I have a few pairs of Footjoy and they have all been fine except for my most recent pair of Footjoy Sport that I wore for the first time in wet conditions a few weeks ago. Noticed my feet were wet and on further inspection the upper was coming away from the sole.

They are away at Footjoy now so they can look at them.

I have 3 pairs of FJ right now the last pair purchased 2 years ago, all are still working well, if there has been a cut in quality I presume it to have been recent.

Maybe.

I won a pair of FJ XPS shoes last year and the sole split and had to be replaced, split angain and the shop got store credit from FJ instead.

Also got a AG voucher from a review in the mag last years so treated myself to a pair of black and white icons with my name on. the first time i wore them in damp conditions at Crail last year they let in water straight away, FJ ae just not the slightest bit waterproof anymore. They are comfy and stylish looking, but not as good as they were maybe 5 or six years ago.

Chris, I firmly believe you are right. I wear FJ Contours and they have lasted at least 2 years before leaking however, last winter I went through about 4 pairs as they started to leak on about the second or third round! (almost a pair a week!) Thankfully we had a dry summer so have had the same pair for a few months now but I fear that they will leak as soon as I get out in wetter conditions - hope I am wrong as they are the most comfortable style of golf shoes I have tried.

2 pairs of FJ sport , second being a replacement pair and both leaked. Was going to buy my 3rd pair today but decided its not worth the risk so going to try out the Nike lunar control 2's instead. It's a shame as the comfort and stability is spot on.

I do agree with you about the comfort. As I now have a new pair I hope that they will give at least a total of 12 months wear between the two pairs.

another unhappy customer here....yet I used to only wear FJ's as they were comfortable and kept me dry..

2 pairs literally stretched within the first 2 outings and left my feet 'moving around' inside the shell, 3rd pair then leaked in one foot......kept the last pair as the returns process had taken up 3 months and numerous calls.....

I think they have changed their manufacturer, maybe sub contracted out to someone else but something has definitely changed.....it does mean I will not be an FJ customer anymore as this is one time that you do not get what you pay for:(

My playing partner yesterday had wet feet after the round. Footjoy AQL bought in the spring this year. Seemed to be letting in water from underneath or around the seam, not in the top at any rate.
My Adipures, no problem.
I'm surprised by how many have had similar problems in this thread. I was going to buy some Footjoy AQL in black for the winter, but now will try to find some Adidas in my size (everywhere sold out :( )

I have a pair of AQL's from 2011 that have just started to crack, but still keep the water out.

I also have a pair of DryJoy Tours from the start of 2012 that look, pretty much, like new nd are still fully waterproof.

I'm going to be venturing into the market over the winter for a new pair of shoes, so hopeflly, FJ will continue to serve me well.

I've recently bought a pair of FJ AQLs and I hope I'm not tempting fate by saying they've been dry and cosy thus far (and I do spend some time in the longer grass too!)

They replaced a 4 year old pair of AQLs and these new ones are a better design IMO.

I've always used FJ's probably had up to 20 pairs, but the last 3 pairs the quality has been awful and they have all leaked. It's a shame really because they always fit well and are comfy straight from the box, but I won't be buying another pair of FJ's.

I'm wondering if the quality issue coincides with production going to China.

you don't have to be Hercule Poirot to work that one out......:smirk:

Nail hit on the firmly on the head.
Another company who is more interested in producing shed loads of new products with little to no attention given to quality of them. As a result they will in time disappear into the history of golf footwear and rightly so.
