I've just been googling DMD's and competitions as I'm getting my Skycaddie SG2.5 tomorrow.

Now i'm worried as I see the SGU have put a restriction on their use in some competitions.

Will i be able to it in my local club competition and in the "open" event that I enter this year?

Or will it be £179 poorly spent?

Thanks

Quite sure there is a notice on the board at our place saying that you can use them subject to a local rule they have made. Will check at the weekend for certain.

Not sure what the rules are for the SGU but I'm allowed to use my SC subject to my club passing a local rule permitting their use (which they've done) and providing it doesn't measure slope, temperature etc

I can use it at my club and Renfrewshire county events, however Argyll & Bute golf union have said no to their use in county competitions! There should be a ruling made and set in stone!

I don't see why they can't be used.

Another example of the rule-makers making a pigs-ear of it.
What with the wedge groove balls-up as well.
Why did they simply rule them legal or not? Such a simple thing to do. DMD's are obviously legal as R&A say you can use them so why have to make a local rule? It just makes things way more compliated than it should be.

We had the necessary Local Rule implimented at the start of last season and have used them ever since.

I've only played a couple of open comps since then and had no problem, although a club could decide not allow them if they so wish.

You would have anything to moan about then.....oh you would....having to buy a whole new set of irons that conformed....
