I've just come back from a university open day. My daughter wants to do psychology, at this point leading to a career in Clinical psychology, although of course that could change over time.

She has been to York and Bath, liked them both. Both are well regarded. Bath gets higher up the list in university league tables but not by much, perhaps not enough to make a difference.

My question, for those in this field, if you had two candidates for a job, with equal degree qualifications, would going to Bath over York make any difference or would you group them together and other factors be more important?

She really liked both, York would be cheaper to live in and geographically better for us but we want her to get the best qualification that she can. If Bath would be better career wise then better to know that now. If it doesn't matter then other factors can come into it.

Advice please.

Not what you've asked, but i'll chip in anyways.

My sister went to Bath uni and walked straight into a very good job having been seen my her now employers as Bath was one of 4/5 if i recall uni's they actively go to and watch presentations. May be able to find a list of companies the uni has close ties with?

Hi LT.
TBH it will be much more important where the MSc or PhD come from! Unless she is looking at on the job training which would be the company's choice of provider. Both degrees are BPS recognised. York probably better regarded up north and vice versa!
