Just for fun, no prizes. (Unless Smiffy wants to donate his chipper)
Who is this famous lady who celebrated her 65th birthday last week?

Interesting. I thought I knew who it was but couldn't remember her name so cheated.

It's not who I thought it was, but it don't half remind me of her, and I still don't know who I thought it was.

You better not guess then Gary as it might not be either of them :)

Big up to Abba as I would argue they were the best exponents of what they did. Not saying for a second that they were the best band ever, but they were one of the best writers and performers of 'pop' music there has been. I challenge anyone to come up with a better 'pop song' then say SOS. A great example of a band where if you took away the quality of the songwriting or the way the girls voices worked together then they would have been nowhere near as good.

Plus a lot of the lyrics were actually fantastically dark, especially when they were all divorcing each other. 'The Winner Takes it All' song and video is one of the saddest and nastiest songs ever. I read a great book that argued you could transpose some of the lyrics of Abba pop songs into Joy Division songs and you would not notice any difference. For example

No more carefree laughter
Silence ever after
Walking through an empty house, tears in my eyes
Here is where the story ends, this is goodbye

I finally figured out (with the help of my Mrs) who I thought it was.

I tried to find a picture of her to prove I'm not losing the plot and failed. They're not similar at all. I'm away with the fairies.

Except that after listening to a joy division version you may be comtemplating suicide, actually same if Snow Patrol tried one
