I was trying out a 'new' driver the MP600 with a Fit on 360 Stiff shaft and 9.5* of loft.
I found this to be really nice, weight etc felt good, looks good etc but it has somthing missing - don't know what's missing but it's somthing. The sweet spot is small and any off centre hits are 50 yards short - but the centered drives are generally 10 yards short of where I was with the G10.

I was hoping to try a few others but dont really know what to try, ideally somthing that looks good and not a uber modern funkatronic triangular head with leightweight shaft and grip combo allowing 78 weight combinations.

PS - I tried a 909 D2 with stiff voodoo and it was simply too much club for me.

Any ideas before I waste a shop pro's time?

PING i15  ;)

The Callaway Edge drivers are supposed to be the business and there's obviously the G15.
Cleveland Launcher DST might be worth a swipe too

I would consider getting the G10 reshafted with something that will give a stronger and more powerful flight. Seek specialist advice from a pro. There is a place in Lisburn that does Ping fittings.

What's wrong with the G10?
I'm with Bob on this one. I tried another driver in search of distance, back with G10. Just either get a G15 fitted or have a new shaft fitted into G10 after fitting.

The shaft is too soft (reg tfc) plus I am barred from playing close to airports with it, far too much height which makes the ball baloon quite bad.

Whats your swing speed? If you don't know, how far do you normally hit your G10?

Don't look past Nike drivers, not everyone's brand of choice but they do make great long drivers.
Loving my current one.

Hey Bob dont know if you agree with this but i came across it while flicking through a mag the other night and since the OP is having problems i thought it might compare with him....This if his swing speed is high........

This is Padraig Harringtons take on loft.......I'd say 99 per cent of amateurs also have too little loft on their driver. To have below 10 degrees then you need to have the clubhead speed of a pro.
If you have 105mph clubhead speed and 10 degrees of loft and you're hitting it too high, well it's your swing that's out, not the loft.

A lot of top players have said the average golfer should use no lower than 10.5 degrees. I've heard great things about the G15 and will be giving one a bash tomorrow. If I was the OP I'd stick with the G10 and look at either getting a reshaft or a custom fit on a new model

They say that, but why do I hit an 8-9.5 driver so much further and also with a more penetrating flight than my 10.5. :D

It's all in the launch isn't it?

If you put 3 degrees upward sweep on a 9 degree driver, you are effectively hitting with 12 degrees. After that, my brain hurts. :D
When I started back, I used a 10 degree driver which is not much loft for my swing, but I was getting 14-15 degrees launch. I thought that was OK until I read that 16 or 17 would give more carry.
Depends on swing speed and style. I know chaps that would hit 10 degree drivers rather high, so they use 8s and 9s....no great mystery.

Bob like everyone else I hit it 300+ :-P

I hit it circa 270ish (ideal conditions - sometimes more sometimes less) I am well pleased with the G10, I just never thought reshafting would be worth it.
Whats your thoughts? Will a different shaft hit it lower? Would it cost less to reshaft or but a 2nd hand driver?

Read that again and tell me why you want to change?
Has someone who knows what they are talking about told you the shaft is too soft?
If you want to hit it it lower.... practice.
What loft is it?

Look at these Asian women. Nothing to them and belting it miles. Get the right shaft (the engine room) and work on technique. Not only will you be longer but on the fairway more often. If you really are hitting around 270 anyway why change what you are doing

I tend to get the hooks (or slices when I try to stop the hooks) with my G10 - TBH I have just been missing too many fairways with the G10. I have tried a few others with heavier shafts and stiff shafts and prefere the swing feeling. With the MP600 I loved the driver - but there was somthing missing - imples.
Loft is 10.5, I have a TM HL drived (the Brother in law bought it and then flogged it on to me) I actually hit it lower than the G10. It just scares the life ouit of me as it sits so closed and I fear for everyones life on my LHS.
