Another friday trunk slammer for Rory...

C'mon, he's young and isn't going to be told any anyone what he needs to do. It's part of being young.

On top of that he's got a girlfriend who's probably tiring out too much ;)

He's a very volatile golfer. He is capable of going very low in a round which means he takes bigger risk than others on the tour. Sometimes these risks don't pay off and he ends up with a triple or a quad...

come on he is world number 2 for a reason.

Getting to the top of the pile is the 'easy' bit ;)...

Staying there is what sorts out the winners from the wannabees...

He appears to be a smashing kid and I am sure his parents will keep his feet firmly on the ground... Presently its all gone a bit 'pete tong'... Hopefully he'll rectify the 'situation' sooner rather than later... But, right now, I don't believe he'll be the serial major winner his supporters believed he would be... Be quite happy to eat my words though...

Why do folk think he grew up on links golf? He played at holywood, its an inland course, ok, he holds the record at portrush, but it could have been a calm day.
He us young, and enjoying himself, I believe he knows himself that he needs to practice more and an sure he will get back on track soon. McDowell is in the same management team and it has done him no harm so why should it be derogatory for Mcilroy? Where as Clarke is with Chandler and was a very talented young man but never went on to achieve all he could so its not chubby that makes the difference. Given time rory will be fine he is still very young in golfing terms, most us golfers are still in college at Mcilroys age.

Can't see any difference between Rory McIlroy or Rickie Fowler, both have fluid, athletic swings that are partial to timing and awsesome shot creation... when it's on it's fantastic, when it's off they'll struggle. Mcilroy missing a few cuts is no different to Fowler taking 2yrs to win, every part of their game has to click for 4 days for them to win.....neither is (or will ever be) as 'solid' as someone like Donald/Westwood et al.

And a 67 at ballyliffin when he was 17. Even if the sun was shining that is some result. Michael Bannon is over with him at the Olympic club sorting him out so its not that he isn't trying.

its the same as club golf. theres no one that can win EVERY week. being 2nd in the world shows his consistancy.

No one is expecting Rory, or anyone else for that matter, to win every week... But three missed cuts on the trot should be considered a worrying trend...

As brendy says Rory's coach is working with him at present... So, hopefully, we'll see a reversal of the 'trend' and some better play at the US Open...

Dog377,
If you were Rory and had the choice of swapping lives with ANYONE IN THE WORLD right now, who would you pick?

Good question bobmac...I really like Rory so I am as dismayed as most at his lack of form. I'm not having a go, simply wondering out loud why he is playing so poorly. I would think he would happily have swapped places with Luke Donald or Tiger on Friday afternoon when he was knee deep in that ditch with the ball popping back over his shoulder.
Hopefully he is back on track soon as it's great to see all our Europeans challenging in the big US events and Majors.
