watched the seniors open at carnoustie , langer and mcarron use the `long` putter ...certainly looks like there still the same as before the ban ! they say their not , but very hard to tell ..thoughts !!
Gotta agree, certainly McCarron looked like he anchored.
In his commentary Tony Johnston said they should have restriccted the length of the putter, that way it would have sorted it all out
Definitely looked anchored and you'd think that with all the zoomed up, frame by frame trials by TV we've seen regarding the rules, surely it should be simple to look on the TV and speak with the PP's and see if there's a rule infringement. Too late now but the rules should have been give a maximum length of putter
Do people really think that they would open break the anchoring rule knowing that everyone will be watching them - I think we can trust Langer to be not anchoring the putter
Looks dodgy but in reality it isn't (and I really don't think we should be insisting on some of these older fellas wearing skin tight tops just to appease a few guys on a golf forum)
Anyway it seems one rule where only the player can admit to a breach, it can't/won't be proven by TV/committee/referee/FC's etc
In which case it's a bad rule!
Several broom handle users still appear to be anchoring, even if they are not by a fraction of an inch, so how can you easily tell whether or not they are? Surely a maximum length for putters should have been put in place at the same time as the anchoring ban!![]()
So what should be the maximum length then..?

Half your height.
How about a rule that says that both hands should be at least touching each other on the grip, as well as no anchoring to the body? That would stop pendulum style putting strokes.
