American Golf's swing simulator

Buying a driver is a bit of a minefield nowadays with the amount of head & shaft options, I've made a couple of mistakes the most expensive being a 910 d2 with totally the wrong shaft for me that I bought from a well known NW club after trying it on Flightscope and being assured it was giving good figures.

I think you really need to be seeing the flight of the ball with your own eyes. I find loaning a demo and taking out on the course or range even better, especially if you can try it over a few days.
I find something I like the feel of then trust my eyes to tell me if the club is giving a good flight nowadays

They are not the only ones with dodgy sims.

I remember going in Navada Bobs in Edinburgh and trying a Burner driver 7 years ago when i had just started playing.

It said i was hitting the ball 300 yards with a nice draw, when on the course i was lucky to get 200 yards with a massive slice!!

I had a go on a golf simulator at the senior open. at the time I was hitting nothing but biggish hooks with my irons.

the simulator had me hitting gentle fades. lol. hard to trust these machines at times.

Ok I'm going to back AG here, I got fitted for the current big dog there over almost two seasons ago, I tried everything that was on the market at that time and whittled it down to what suited me, the swing speed was about right at 106/107 and I was fitted for a club that suited me

...And then you changed the shaft !:whoo:

To the OP, go to Titleist get the right shaft and job done, they have hundreds and the 40-50 quid you spend will make sure no doubt.

Outdoor range
Hitting PRO v's
Computer Tech/Flightscope data
Plus the shaft will fit your current driver, so you can compare them and it woudnt surprise me if the head on the 913 is simialr and you end up just upgrading the shaft.

Good luck.

its similar but its very different, 910 ugly, 913 D3 much better head shape IMO

Always best to take I club away and hit it in the real world, or you could always ask them to show you the setting that flightscope etc is on.

As long as it's set up properly, I would rather see a launch monitor's prediction of my ball flight than see range balls outside with my own eyes.

AG are fine, I would certainly not hesitate in going there. Personally I wouldnt listen to all these scare stories, half of them are made up, I've never seen anything emotely like that.

Go to AG and judge for yourself, if you are comfortable with the club and like it, buy it.

AG are great, they have pretty much everything you need AND as you will see from other threads on here too, they price match. It staggers me they get a bad rep, they should be the No1 choice of people looking to buy golf clubs and stuff.

No1 choice is pushing it a bit - I would always support the local pro first before any big company.

The local pro is important in any club

You are perfectly entitled to believe that half of these scare stories are made up. If course, you don't really know and perhaps some of the stuff you got wasn't the right fit either.

I have played with people recently fitted by AG, in one case into a hybrid that was at least two flexes too soft (big rugby bloke with PX 6.0 irons fitted into a Nicklaus A flex hybrid), and I have also played with an ex-AG manager who confirmed they mucked around with the launch monitor settings to direct the sale. I have also demoed a driver at an AG, which with a 100mph swing carried the ball 285 yards, in apparent defiance of the laws of physics.

But you know better, so that's all right then.

You on some sort of commission

That's not limited to AG though and also not a reflection on AG as a majority.

theres no need for that type of attitude IMO, he has a valid opinion.

We can all quote individuals we play with who have good and bad stories about retailers as well as some of the specialist experts fitters. You have a valid opinion as well Ethan, but it is just that, an opinion, and something we all have on a golf forum.

Actually i was giving a balanced opinion based on no fact to counter the argument, much like every other story on here slating AG.

Thanks for your input though, I'll make sure to really take on board your points in future and consult you first, you clearly like to feel important.

Balanced opinion? No facts indeed, so the opinion doesn't really mean much. You do sound like AG's ideal customer, though. Gullibility is much valued there.

You also really need to try much harder with your attempt at sarcasm.
