Amercan golf rip off!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find AG to be very good, Instore and online. Keep typing figures in the price match until it agrees. Not going to save £££ but the odd £ here or there keeps everyone happy.

They are selling 24 callaway chrome softs for £40 that's £4 cheaper than anywhere else I've seen, then put £39 in pricematch and they agree to it. Happy days.

This UK resident does, i would never buy anything from AG

You're a fool then. EVERY company has to dump stock at bargin prices eventually. Being in the right place at the right time, in the shop not online, and you can pick up bargins. At AG I've had Stuburt golf shoes at £20 and Under Armour polos (before they got Speith popular (they must be hugging themselves over that) at 2 for £15).

why, i can get stuff from the local pro's at around the same price and often lower. I choose not to buy from AG....my choice.

i'm not complaining about a prices. I prefer to support my pro shop for clothing and the the guy i have lessons with clubs. i can trial sets from him something AG can't do. if i fancy trying something, he will let me take it on the course for as long as i like usually, something AG would never do

AMERCAN GOLF RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!! American Golf had a 25% Sale in their Cork Store in Ireland since early December, while charging full price in all of their UK Stores .Obviously UK Residents have more money???????

Do you run a golf store in the Cork area, and, are you trying to poach AG's customers by bad mouthing them to the online community?

My major issue with AG is that they never look at fitting you for the more bespoke shafts, even the ones that have no upcharge. They seem to be happier to sell what is on their shelf than necessarily find the best match for you. This might only be the couple of stores that I've been in, but I am looking at other shops to purchase my woods from in the future.

Totally agree it's individual choice and it's your money, However, I use them in the opposite way, our Pro can order any stock but being a small club he can't carry the stock so I go and visit AG they let me try the clubs on the range and then order via Pro, both methods work, and our Pro will do price match and 10% Discount if spending over £100.00.

If you want to get fitted, go to a fitter. Big retailers don't work that way, and can't actually work that way. 90% of customers who walk into the store of a big retailer expect to leave the store with a set of new clubs in their hands and wouldn't be happy if they were told they had to wait a couple of weeks for their new clubs because they are not on stock.

So the retailer has to keep a huge inventory of a lot of different clubs in different flexes, etc. Now if they can't sell all that stock before the next model comes out it means they have to sell the old models at a discount which means they lose money. Plus their aggressive prices are based on the fact they buy in bulk and thus get better conditions than smaller shops, I'm not sure if they get that same prices when they order custom sets.

If you go in there and want a custom set with an aftermarket shaft that means the store has to order that custom set in addition to the sets they already have in stock, which increases the probability they won't be able to sell all the sets they already have in stock, plus they may actually have a better margin on standard sets.

A small retailer or pro shop will have a smaller inventory, which may mean there's only one demo set of any given club and they may have to order your set even if you go for the standard specs. Are 'true' fitter will often even not have a set, but a demo head with an adapter and various shafts, and will either place an order with the OEM who then builds the set to your specs or just order the components and assemble the clubs himself.

So naturally, a big retailer will always prefer to sell you something off the shelf, since that's his business model. If you want a more customized set, go somewhere that offers that kind of service.

That would just not work with the AG in Inverness, they carry less stuff than the private local dealer, that is about 50 yards from them.

we have 4 golf shops in Inverness and AG is the 5th best shop out of them;)

I am a retired retailer. From time to time a chain store may clear all their regular stock, and fill the store with clearance stock. This may be what they did, or alternatively the store may well be suffering, and the company wanted to create some good will. It's really not a rip off though.

Businesses set different prices in different markets, no one forces you to use any business
