Amazon Prime Football

everyone i talk to (mainly gamblers) fed up up knowing a goals coming before they see it, that and not so simple to flick between games on tv

Such a simple solution for that tho

Turn your notifications off.

Addicts lol

Not impressed with the game or the coverage. Coverage was a couple of minutes behind at least, was getting notifications on the BBC app long before it happened on the tv. Also the feed kept pausing momentarily, juddery out of focus at times too. That and yet more schoolboy defending by the Arsenal. All in all a poor show.

Everyone I've spoken to about it is raving about it. They hope they get more of it. Ability to pick whatever game seems to be the winner .

Also may be a generational or regional / both thing that because we all use Amazon for everything we have prime. So see it as free
The problem is this was a midweek. On Saturdays we still have the stupid rule about not televising 3 o'clock games. So the match choice will never be particularly diverse.

Amazon might be good for the armchair fan but it’s just another disruption to the match going punter.

8:15pm kick off is taking the piss. Left the ground at 20past 10 and got home just after 11pm last night with my 10yr old lad. A normal midweek game and we’re home and in bed by 10:30 the latest.

Good luck getting home from Leicester on boxing day ;)

Not too bad aways on the coach and no school for my boy the next day but when you've been up since 6 am that morning and done a full days graft the last thing I need is a late night.

The next thing will be 7pm/ 830pm kick offs to cram as much viewers in as poss.

Why is it a "stupid rule"?
Imo it’s an old rule that had the best intentions.

Didn’t want all the stadiums empty, causing clubs to lose revenue etc. Nowadays, Match going revenue is almost insignificant when compared to sponsorship.

I’d love for all games to be aired live, this would mean clubs getting even more money in, but I’d only think it a good idea if all clubs then agreed to massively reduce ticket prices. Say £10 a ticket for previous season ticket holders, £15 for anyone who has been to the ground the previous year. £25 within the last 5.

Full stadiums, people saving money and even more revenue streams for clubs. I don’t see a lose it that scenario.

Would suggest for many of the club's, in the lower tiers, gate money remains a valuable income stream... I can see a big knock, for them, if it all becomes about 'The Prem'...

I agree as a revenue stream ticket money is more important lower down. I wasn’t suggesting tickets prices were lowered outside the prem.

I accept that if more tv football is shown then some may choose not to go, but I can recall When Saints dropped from the prem lost gate receipts almost overnight of those that only wanted Prem footy, but not so much when we went to league 1. We had a core set of fans who go regardless. I think the same could be said for the lower league teams now. Who’s loyal fan bases would still go to games.

Having had a little google. Some championship teams are still charging £40 a ticket. Imo they’re mugging their fan base at that price. So I’d have no sympathy is fans went elsewhere tbh. But at £30ma ticket I’m sure plenty would still go.

I’m also not entirely sure it’s the premier league, fa or anyone else’s responsibility to take care of teams. They’d re all business now. Let’s be honest, the biggest expenses all clubs have are players wages. If an owner chooses to over spend that’s their choice. It’s rubbish for the fans when it goes wrong. I’ve been through it, but others shouldn’t have to subsidise a clubs mistakes. Otherwise where is the risk in going all guns ho.

I would suggest it's the FA's "responsibility" to ensure footie remains a sport for all not become a business opportunity for the few. ..

I’d agree in principle it should have been their responsibility. But that ship has long since sailed. The last straw being the fit and proper test. Once they started letting reckless spending occur it was game over imo.

Yeah these were my thoughts I just couldn't be bothered to answer him. Premier League clubs don't rely on gate receipts, and the ticket prices are ridiculous nowadays anyway, who the hell can afford to go to every game. I don't really think televising Prem games will impact lower League clubs, if you're a fan of say, Tranmere, are you really going to sack off watching your team to watch Liverpool or Everton on the TV? Surely not.
