on here that uses a broomhandle putter?

Given the popularity of these on tour with multiple winners such as Langer, Scott, Clark, etc will you consider trying one in the future? Will you automatically rule them out or would you approach it open minded with the sole aim of improving your putting.

The amount of players experimenting and switching is proof in the pudding for me.

Thoughts?

I have tried them only fleetingly and TBH I think they would be nothing but a ball ache in windy conditions AND I never felt comfortable using it. Although if it was either use one or give up golf I would learn to love it I guess but at the minute have no need to use one

Tried it didn't like it, but I think that's more down to a pants technique

If I could find a cheap one I liked I may spend a few hours playing, but as I've just got a new rife it won't happen any time soon

Normally something golfers try when they get the Yips. Langer was a typical case.

Some people think they should have been banned and made non conforming. I am not sure about this but I did discuss them with a Club Pro who uses one, he said he used it to overcome the yips but although it helps it cannot return his confidence.

Craw.
Do you use one because you prefer it or because you're crap with a short stick?

I had a session with one at my club, they had one in the shop and I had 30-40 minutes on the practice green with it.
As far as I'm concerned I could have been using a strip of 4x2 or a drainpipe - they'd have worked just as well/badly.
I know it's a totally different technique and needs practice but neither the Broomhandle or the Belly would find their way into my bag. I didn't have any sort of control over the club. I'm a decent putter most of the time and I doubt using one of these would make me better.

That, and I think that they're fundamentally wrong but that's probably another debate.........

I use one because I prefer it and like it. I used one for years and went back to the short stick. Despite averaging 32 putts per round over a seven month period I still prefer and feel more comfortable with the broom.

Looking forward to my new baby flying in from the USofA. Fingers crossed I avoid the custom charges!

I know someone who used one facing the hole with the Broom Handle held into his right shoulder and swinging it back and forth with his right hand while looking at the hole.

I know it sounds a bit like 'Twister'

I'd also use one when I get crap at putting,.... no offence ;)

I'm at the other end of the spectrum right now with a putter that makes Garrigus' putter look like an belly putter.

Personally can't stand them, and with all the rules regarding drivers, wedges etc surprised they were ever allowed in the first place, or at least banned before it was too late to do so.

How you going to improve your long and short game?

the belly putter caught my eye as an alternative to my putting woes, havent done anything about it, the broom thing is def not on my radar, too much of a traditionalist

I see the long putters in the same light as hybrids. They mask the inability to do something that is otherwise demanded by normal clubs. People that can't confidently putt use long putters, people that can't hit 3/4 irons use hybrids and old people that can't run use nappies.
