Am I the only one

I'd be interested to try one in practice but don't think I'd adopt it unless it was significantly better than a "normal" putter, which I doubt. Don't think I've ever seen one used on a course, outside of pro tournaments.

It's a bit contradictory though; despite my comment above I really don't like seeing pros using one which suggests I think they maybe are deriving an advantage with it.

One of my golfing partners uses a long putter and he is, without doubt, the best putter I have ever seen in my fifty years playing this wonderful game.

I can only shake my head in wonderment as he rolls in putts from all over the green but I do believe that he could use any putter and he would be very good, the long handle putter just makes him even better.

Craw,

if you had to list them, what would you say are the personal advantages of using a gut-putter over a traditional one one.

As murph rightly points out its the broom I use not the belly.

Advantages, the biggest advantage for me is that it takes the wrists right out of the stroke, no wrist breakdown resulting in more accurate putting. I also like the pendulum stroke that it promotes.

Our incoming vice captain uses a broom handle and I've tried it and just don't like it. I've not seen anyone at the club with a belly putter and to be honest that would appeal to me more but I'm trying to keep that as a last resort, not so much from an anchorage and stability perspective but because I have to beleive my putting will never get bad enough to need it

Its not about being a bad putter its about improving on what your already doing!!!!

I use one because I prefer it and like it. I used one for years and went back to the short stick. Despite averaging 32 putts per round over a seven month period I still prefer and feel more comfortable with the broom.

Looking forward to my new baby flying in from the USofA. Fingers crossed I avoid the custom charges!

good luck on avoiding custom charges they seem to have had a clamp down here been surcharged last 2 packages after many avoiding detection.
