What's people thoughts on allowing people through. Obviously if your 4 and they are a 2it makes sense. But Tuesday we where playing as a 4 was first lot out for the day. The three ball tee off as soon as we hit our 2nd shot on the 1st hole. (normally a 6min slot gap). We where playin a good pace and held them up on a par 3 once whilst putts where finished off. Then we motored on again down a 5. Next par 3same case again. So the senior gents shouted to us askin to play through. Next tee we teed off and all smoked a fag and finished by time they got to us. And grumbled about us teeing off. Then they t off 1 goes OB and the other 2 a good distance short of ours. We bit our tongues but thought it was cheeky for them to ask yet felt smug they hit poor shots. So do u ever ask to play through or always wait to be invited? I found waiting for them made me loose rhythm for the rest of the hole.

I wouldn't ever ask but would hope those in front would see sense. It does annoy me when the group behind don't even allow a resonable gap from the 1st hole. Sounds to me as if you were in fact just about keeping pace with the 3 ball behind so they were wrong to expect and indeed "demand" to be let through.

At our place we don't have tee bookings Mon-Fri and makes me chuckle that as soon as they see a woman approaching the 1st tee it's a rush to get out first. Ok so that's a bit of a generalisation but usually David is aware of it more than I am! Always nice to then be let through and out-drive them :p

i would never ask either,it's rude.i think there was no reason for them to ask, they tee's off almost as soon as they could and they were only held up on the par 3's which is understandable.

We once told 2 people in front of us that we were playing through. It was 2 teenagers who hadn't a care in the world, had no idea we were waiting for them and just kept stopping to talk to each other. So we just shouted to them "we're playing through" and they wandered off to the side and sat down.

Always wait to be invited, although if its quiet I'll have a few putts on the green or drop a ball and chip a couple.

I felt bad last Saturday in that there was a 2 ball behind us and we were the last group out in the competition. There was a full sheet of 4 balls and similar to the OP they tee'd off pretty much as soon as we were out of range but we didnt let them through. We were often waiting ourselves, although not for long, and never lost a hole on the group in front . We were going to be fighting the light to finish the comp.

I totally understand why you wouldn't let them through. Its not like they'll get through the whole field and once you start putting them amongst the back markers it puts people off and concertinas the field up. Think they were a bit naive to rush straight out behind you to be honest

i'd never ask to be played through, most people are good judges on whether to call the group behind through imho
