All Day Comps but Tee Bookings only to 11:30am

What's BRS btw?

We should be able to extend the tee booking into the afternoon - maybe with a way of showing my flexibility around the time slot I put my name in (so I could add a comment or flag indicating +-30mins if that's my flexibility). But on-line tee booking is new - just this year for comps. And tee time booking for casual play is a very contentious subject...and so we don't have it...yet

BRS is the name of the software supplier.

We have no tee-booking system other than for comps so Sundays busy from 8.00 to 9.30 then very quiet until the Mixed at 12.00.

Got a big bunch of regular partners - who all play mornings or 12-1pm. I could cast around the week before if I knew I could play in the comp the following week - but often it's a 'spur of the moment' thing if my wife hasn't planned something for the afternoon of the day of the comp. I'm then left frustrated - getting OK to play - but no-one to play with (all together then - awwwww :))

I'm thinking the only real answer is to seek to get the club to push tee reservations out to maybe 2pm or publish the tee booking sheet for all of the day but make reservations only until 11:30am. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way of indicating the 11:30am cut-off for tee reservations on our system or in enabling me to indicate flexibility around a time I'm available to tee off. We've got 'I want a game' function on our website but it isn't used - even by those who can access it. Maybe I just get the club to promote the use of that aspect of the website - but with all such things it's a case of 'you can take a horse to water but...'

Just wondering if anyone's club had developed a novel way of putting players together - or enabling them to find each other - in such circumstances.

If it's a spur of the moment decision how would a booking system
Really help as you don't know ahead and most are cut off the day before otherwise people just cancel if it's raining etc...

Indeed...

We permit competition play outside he block comp schedule but 1 we have booking available outside this and (2) you must book and notify your comp entry to the pro shop 24h prior.

Note - if there's no pressure on the course then a few bookings at such times doesn't represent a threat to those wishing to turn up and play social golf - if the course is busy then it represents a mechanism to smooth access to the course. On non competition days we have 2 hr blocks roll up/ book /roll up in the mornings which works fine.

Nothing works on a well forcasted good weather Sat in Dec - but clubs keep trying to find solutions to that one too.

Why don't you just ask the Club to change it?!

I have spoken with both the Business Manager and Pro - and have their support in principle - but any implementation of a system that even suggests putting restrictions on roll-up and casual play will be met with significant resistance from many members

There is no cut-off for entering the comps I'm referring to. If I decide I fancy playing in the comp and I can play in the morning and I haven't entered, I can go on-line on the day and see if there are any spare slots in the reserved/bookable period. If there are I put my name in the slot - and that's me entered. Tough if the two ball in the slot have got a 3rd person and they haven't put him down - I get the place.

I'm pushing to have the whole day visible on-line - with tee times set for all day. I would want to be able to put my name down at a time outside the bookable period that indicates to anyone else looking that I'm available to play at or around the time I've put myself down.
