As an exercise it probably shows a mix between potential to make a given shot (with enough attempts) & a shortfall in course management i.e when going for a safe area of the green second time round rather than taking on a flag might actually produce a lower score

The former isn't news to you as you wouldn't have taken on the shot in the first place if you didn't think you could do it so it was either poor execution (practice needed) or poor course management i.e how many times out of ten could you nail that shot so that it was a good choice of shot to take on?

If your current mindset means that decisions are taken based on a confidence level of say 7/10 success rate maybe you need to readjust shot selection to those you know you'd nail 8/10 times

I can see the merits of the second ball and how it shows with some tbought and work the silly mistakes can be ironed out but isn't a bit like provisional ball syndrome and it's always going to go straight second time around
