Aldi Golf Promotion

Just popped into Aldi this morning for some milk (honest) and had a look at their latest golf offerings.

Shoes: £20
S/S Wind Shirt: £13
Jumpers: £10
Socks: £3
Turtle Neck: £8.50
Soft shell Jacket: £20
24 Lake Balls: £10
Gloves: £3

Really impressed by the soft shell jacket, comparable with a Puma one I have that cost nearly four times the amount, so I bought one! No Crane Sports logo on the jacket for those worried about brand image......

I would have bought some balls if haven't recently bought 6 doz DX3's. The Titleist packs had NXTs and DTS in them.

Shoes looked OK too, reasonably light and flexible in both black and white.

I've got a few of the undershirt (polo neck) type thins and they are very good. had some sock in the past and they are good for the summer and have mesh parts to keep your feel cool.

I did see the other tops, look ok. not sure the jumpers are any good though, looked very flimsey.

My Mrs picked up a short sleeve top for me yesterday. Seems pretty similar a footjoy top I had. Nice lightweight seemingly wind and water resistant and all for €15 not bad at all.

This is just another knife into the hearts of small independent retail businesses as what are effectively grocery supermarket chains now getting involved in other market sectors.

Soon, everything will be in supermarkets, on retail parks or ordered on-line and the independent small businesses that can offer help and advise over and above the products they sell, will become dinosaurs.

Support your club pro shop or golf specialist retail store (corporate or independent) and keep our sport out of supermarkets!

Don't see the problem to be honest. All they are selling is a bunch of consumables all under £20. If I was looking for a new set of clubs I would seek out the "specialist" and be prepared to pay for their knowledge and assistance.

I popped in for an 89p carton of milk and bought the jacket on impulse. However the place was full of ladies and gets in their late 50's and above with trollies full of shoes, balls and clothing.

Anyway I don't see the difference in buying from Aldi compared to buying from AG?

Times change and businesses have to adapt or die, just like they always have

Yeah we are lucky to have shops up here, however when I'm dawn souff doing missionary work I make sure to stock up, without paying of course

In fairness to Aldi and Lidl, they are not chav shops, they are European giants in the food arena and have very affordable food, especially the meats, over here.

All my German friends shop there for their meats for example.

It is not cheap **** like farm foods or the like, it is low priced good quality food generally.

I agree, The break knife is off to Aldi this evening to stock up on the meats for a do we are having. Meats are usually 30% cheaper than most supermarkets, and better quality.

We buy all our fruit & veg,salad,cold meats,and fruit juice's from Aldi.If we bought the same items of comparable quality from one of the big supermarkets,it would be about 20%-30% more expensive.
Having never bought any of there golf gear i cannot comment,but there electrical equipment is top notch for the money,and has a warranty/guarantee you'd have to pay extra for from most other retailers.
Now where did i leave my Aquascrotum baseball cap ?
