Albatross

Interesting, I have had 4 hole in ones, the last one about three weeks ago, but I still hanker after an albatross and would rate it higher.

I agree they're more allusive, and so I can fully see why I'm probably in the minority with my opinion. Although having got for hole in ones I think your being greedy 😃

Hang on a minute can we rewind to the point where Swinger slam dunked a 302 yard hole in one!!!!!!!!! WTF! I think my unhealthy man love/admiration for you has dangerously increased by several notches. That. Is. Immense!

I can feel the love Tiger! The Club Captain at the time was playing in the group in front of us and were watching me play so all four of them saw it go in too. I didn't even have to buy a drink as we had a big bottle of wine (approx. 6 - 8 normal bottles) as a prize for the next hole in one in a competition. I was looking after my boy that evening so only saw one glass of it but there were plenty of sore faces the next morning!

I have had two.
Holed a 7 iron on a 495 yard par five when I was about 16.
The second was not quite as good as Swinger, hole in one at a 300 yard hole when I was about 26.

The first albatross did not mean much to me, the second meant quite a bit as it was also my first hole in one.

495 yards with driver and 7 iron! Please tell me it was down hill with and fierce wind on your back! Or I need to eat a ton of wheetabix and spinach!

I could hit forum distances in them thar days, probably lagged up short of the bunkers with a 1 iron
1.62 ball remember!

Very fast running flat links fairway wi a wee breeze behind [ I think]

wasnt meant to sound as though I doubted you, envious maybe! Maybe I need to aspire for the hole in one albatross! Then I've only gotta do it once!

Seen one on The Seniors Tour, Tony Charnley at Stoke By Nayland.I could be wrong but I believe theres only been 2 in the history of the Euro Seniors.

Any shot holed from the tee or fairway is largely luck IMHO.

There is always an element of luck in a holed shot but I think it goes without saying that more skilled player is likely to do better than an unskilled player.
If you gave Phil Mickleson and a 10 handicap club golfer 50 balls each from 50 yards I think Phil would have the edge.
One of the old American Pro's of my era has had over 40 holes in one [Dow Fitzwald ??]

My father and uncle were both good players my uncle was the more skillful and contested quite a few Scottish Pro Championships He never had a hole in one but my father had five.

I have been lucky enough to have 2.Both on par 5's.One was a drive and a 4 iron on a 510yrd and one was a drive and a wedge on a 500yrd one.

Last one was about 10 years ago!!
