It's not that unusual for stuff to go missing on flights - and it's gut wrenching when it happens. But it mostly turns up again later. Fingers crossed for you.
Hi team...
Ok ...............SO THEY HAVE FOUND MY BAG.............I can breath again......phew. They are not sure if it will arrive tonight or tomorrow night...but to be honest, that is of no issue as my bag exists. They will call later to confirm it has arrived.
Thanks for the love and will report back with the final result.....and maybe what to do in the future.

Glad to hear this. A few years ago, travelling to the USA the airline "lost" my clubs as they did not come out on the with all the other baggage in Dallas. By the time I had reported the loss to the airline I only just managed to make my connecting flight but my suitcase was not so lucky! The airline delivered the suitcase to my hotel sometime during the night, it came on the next flight, but my clubs did not turn up for 10 days! Had just about given up and was completing all the necessary airline and insurance claim forms when the hotel gave me the good news.
Can't remember th exact details, but I'm sure when I had insurance for golf clubs, it never covered me for them once the clubs had been checked into the airlines system, it then becomes an insurance issue for the airline.
Important information
WE HAVE A LIMITED LIABILITY RELATING TO CLAIMS FOR CHECKED BAGGAGE. Our liability is based on the Montreal Convention. The applicable limits of liability in the case of destruction, loss of, or damage or delay to baggage on a flight operated by British Airways or a European Union British Airways franchise carrier is 1,131 Special Drawing Rights (approximately GBP 1100 or EUR 1,320, or USD 1,625). In line with other airlines, we cannot accept claims for damage or loss to items in checked baggage which are fragile, perishable or of special value.
That's also what I have been told when I enquired about travelling to Portugal, the home insurance covers goods away from home, including the time in Portugal, but not whilst in the hands of the airline. It's the airline responsibility for the duration of the time the clubs are in their possession. Interesting to read above that their insurance is based on item weight, not contents. We've used BA for our last three trips, just checked their page here https://baggageclaim.britishairways.com/, it states that your own insurance will probably provide better cover than what they can, their insurance is based on the Montreal Convention and limits liability to £1100.
Think I'll go for specialist cover next time I pack the clubs on a plane...
OK>>>UPDATE ALERT>>>>
So, I have my clubs. They are all intact and not broken.
However, the flight bag was ripped to shreds, all handles ripped off etc etc. My Stadry bag main body was intact but the hood is also ripped to shreds.
The carrier had tried to patch the top section up with wrap and duct tape, so obviously happened pre flight.
To be honest, if you gave me this option on Tuesday night I would have snapped your arm off. I think, what saved the clubs was my tennis racket I put in the club dividers to add strength which sat proud of the clubs. I shudder to think what state they would have been in if I had no racket. I took my driver head off and bubble wrapped the shafts so that was good.
So, lessons to learn............I only do this trip once a year and whilst insurance is nice and you may get most of your money back eventually, you still have no clubs so would have to hire them. I have also totaled the value up and it looks around the £2,700........blimey.........I will have a look into insurance but this will surely be around the £80 pa.
Any good insurers out there?!

Carrick Neill are excellent specialist golf insurers. I've been with them for years and made several claims which were dealt with totally satisfactorily and without fuss. All my gear is covered worldwide on a new for old basis regardless of age. My stuff is covered wherever it is including in the boot of my car, outside the clubhouse or in my locker. When my clubs were damaged in transit between Spain and London I didn't even bother trying to claim from Ryanair, Carrick Neill got me a shiny new driver and 3 wood.
Don't be swayed by offers of free balls etc, check that you're getting the levels of cover you need.
