Air Fryers … any good / recommendations

Here is something I don’t understand about the air fryer.

If I make chips, at 200 C, why does the time change with the wattage?

Are 200 degrees in a 1400W air fryer colder than 200 degrees in a 2000W one?
Something about the high efficiency of an air fryer meaning the key temperature can be lower and have the same effect as a higher temperature in a larger oven.

Or maybe it's just one of those magical things we shouldn't look too deeply into and just accept it is what it is 🤷‍♀️. Like, how do massive planes with 500 people and their luggage get off the ground? 🤔

Definitely not a gimmick or fad in this house

Breakfast this morning

Girls cereal, toast and one wanted pain au chocolat.. so the latter went in the air fryer for 2 mins.

I then cooked the wife and I scrambled egg on bagels with cut up bacon on top, air fried ofc

It's A very good to leave things like bacon cooking whilst you do Jobs and B very tasty

I paid £180 3 years ago for it and it's been used basically every day since

Where as the oven has been relegated to an also run

Beats the insta pot which I prob use once every 3 months and that's just using the pot inside as a bigger pan rather than the insta pot itself. Now that was a fad

I have to say that since I have been single, I have used mine far more rather than cook in the oven and so it has proved very useful.

Whover mentioned the instapot, I agree to a certain extent but I do use it probably once a month for what it is mainly meant for but I use it most weeks in slow cooker mode.

I don't know if anybody is looking for a slightly fancier air frier, but I spotted this deal recently which may interest some.
Ninja Speedi 10-in-1 5.7L Rapid Cooker and Air Fryer + 2 Year guarantee £97.50 with code (free c+c)

I was previously sceptical about air fryers, we had a basic one for years and only used it for chips. We got a new twin basket one at the Good Food show last Nov and we have used it so much more than the old one. Cooked loads in it, mostly all good and now we are thinking about getting a large single basket one to do bigger things

We didn't know anything about air fryers until early Dec. Then saw a deal on the top Ninja one (saving £90), and have used it every day. Easier and cheaper to run.

I did a roast chicken in mine last week using the temp probe on steam roast setting. Lordy it was good 😋
My wife can't crack the roast chicken. She said this weekend that she was going to give up on it, use the oven for a roast chicken in future. Extra brownie points for you for smashing it

I had a Phliips air fryer for a couple of years, nothing especially wrong with it however with a growing family coupled with the January sales I have ended up with a Ninja double stack jobby with temperature prob. It has far more functions that I've managed to use however so far having the two separate baskets that can either work independently (time wise) or be synced to finish at the same time is proving to be a god send. Also, having two smaller baskets is much easier to keep clean than trying to wash one massive basket in the sink.

I bought that one from QVC as an extra one and sent it back. Don't know if I had a faulty one but it didn't cook things evenly and I was surprised at how small the drawers were. Have stuck with the two Ninjas I have.
