Played in a comp today but the course closed before the whole field completed their round.

The comp is void and will be rescheduled however there were a couple of eye opening scores in the clubhouse , 41 and 46 points!

Under pressure to make some adjustments but I don’t think that I can. For starters CSS is not known if only half the scores came in or can it be calculated ( or even considered) for th rounds that did complete?

I guess what I need to know is can this be a legitimate qualifier until the point that the round was abandoned? Or should I just write the whole thing off but just make a mental note of the really good scores?

It can be closed as a qualifier for the scores completed - in fact I believe it should be.

I think you might be correct Phil , just googling I found CONGU recommendation is to make the comp Reductions Only for those that did complete the round.

I’ve never set the CSS before within HM but presumably I will need to find a way to make it RO as nobody can go up under these circumstances apparently.

When you apply the scores there is a tick box for abandoned and Handicapmaster does the rest.

As Rosecott says

(b)
Nett Differentials returned in any abandoned round of a Qualifying Competition. In such circumstances the Competition Scratch Score is equal to the Standard Scratch Score
and handicaps are not increased – See Clause 18.7;

The committee does have this option under the rules of golf
Rule 33

d. Course Unplayable
If the Committee or its authorized representative considers that for any reason the course is not in a playable condition or that there are circumstances that render the proper playing of the game impossible, it may, in match play or stroke play, order a temporary suspension of play or, in stroke play, declare play null and void and cancel all scores for the round in question. When a round is canceled, all penalties incurred in that round are canceled.

(Procedure in discontinuing and resuming play - see Rule 6-8)

 Good news

Out of interest, when you’ve done this how do you make it clear on Masterscoreboard that this was a voided comp?

I suggest you sign up to the HM forums. I don't use HM personally but I know the software forum is excellent.

Thanks all.

Final question on this, I don’t have all the cards as players probably didn’t think to hand them back (those that didn’t finish). Technically do I DQ them or just not include them in the processing of results?

Is DQ even relevant for an abandoned comp?
