My Dad has got himself a bargain that was, really, too good to refuse.

He's played PING Eye 2 irons for the last couple of seasons, but when he saw a set of G15 irons, 5-W, reg AWT shafts, White code grips in mint condition, for £150 he found it too good to say no.

The only issue is he plays white dot irons 3* up, and these are green dot 2.25* up.

I am aware that you can send the clubs to Gainsborough and have them adjusted, whether there is a cost involved I don't know. My worry with them being cast is they snap.

My question. Can the clubs be taken to a certified PING fitter for adjustment or is it best to go to Gainsborough? Has anyone used this service?

Thanks in advnace.

Cast clubs can be adjusted up to 2 degrees and forged up to 4 degrees.
Best bet and peace of mind is to send them to Gainsborough

I have to ask the question, does he see a difference in the 0.75 degree difference.
I'd be tempted to hide them from him for a week and then tell him they're back

I was tempted Bob to get the Tipex out and not say anything.

I wouldn't have thought 3/4 of a degree would make any noticable difference myself. I'd just have been happy to get them at the price he did!

you just pay the postage to ping the adjustments are free.they can be adjusted 4 degrees by ping.i have had it done twice.a ping retailer will send them to ping.

You see the little cut out in the Hosel of all ping irons?

(Thats the slot that allows them to be bent to change the lie angle without the fearing of snapping)

...... And now I know!!!!

I always wondered what that was for. Don't like the look of it myself, but if it serves a purpose......

Not only do they adjust the lie, they also re-paint the colour code and update the clubs record sheet to show that they have been adjusted.

Its a very good service and I'll be sending mine back at the end of the season to move mine to yellow dot.

Yes I agree its an excellent service....i sent mine on a Monday and they were back on Saturday morning.
I think you will find that most pros will not bend them and will send them to Ping.....all you pay for is the courier.
