a random guy joined our 3 ball. all was normal until we got to the first green. he had a 30ft put and lined himself up but he never looked at the ball. every put he had that day (all 32 of them) he spent looking at the hole instead of the ball.

out of interest i gave it a go and the results where impressive especialy on long putts.
anyone else do this?

I think it was maybe KJ CHOI? Who done it on tour last year, looked so wierd watching him do it. However the idea is the same, keep your head still haha

IT is a known method to judge distance. But normally only used on the practise green. You set up looking at the ball then, when you take the shot you stare at the hole and feel the distance. I guess this is what he was doing.

he said his pro told him to do it as a drill to judge pace but was that effective he put it into his game. i'm playing tommorrow so i'm gonna try it for a round (my putting cant get any worse)

In one of Rotella's books he done it with a pro who proceeded to shoot a course record doing it. Whatever, he will look a bit of a fool if he swipes and misses though

hold on, are you saying he was staring at the hole when he took the putt? ill give that a go on the practice green tomoro! lol
