...baize.

Pool to be precise.

I play in the inter-county set up run in England, and each year the top 8 players in each 'league' win a place in the England trials held in March the following year.

Last year I needed to win all 4 of my games in the last match to give myself a chance. I won the first 3 but didn't get a shot in the last one and just missed out.

Today I needed 3 from 4 to give myself a chance, and all 4 to guarantee it.
I only won 3 but from the other results I know I think it will be enough, unless they do a 'Murph' on me and change the results again!

England trialist. I like the sound of that. :)

Great stuff. Hope results go your way (no dodgy X Factor rigging) and you get the call and play. International at any sport is something to be proud of

It's not a question (yet) of getting a call to play.

The trials is another competition. The top 8 points scorers in each of 7 leagues, plus the lowest 8 points scorers from the current England squad, in a 64-man swiss competition where 8 players qualify for that years England squad.

My goal is reached in just qualifying for the trials. I don't realistically expect to progress any further, although I'll be trying my socks off to do it.

If I do, you'll hear all about it. For ages. :D
