A foggy round...

Played in really thick fog yesterday, god knows how I got out! Visibility was less than 150yards so it was impossible to tell where the drives went off to! Fortunately my driving was pretty straight and I managed to go the whole round (9 holes) without losing a ball! I shot +4 so pretty proud of myself!
Anybody else play in strange weather?

Played yesterday in the wind and rain loved it because it was hard conditions shot +5 thought i played well.

We played in wind, rain and sunshine yesterday, and it was ruddy cold. And I shot 5 over playing off 11 so I was well chuffed. It's been a lousy year but the hours of practice are starting to pay off.

How do you know where other players are and if the greens are clear? I've twice played in poor visibility and was nearly hit by balls landing on greens while I was still putting. Never again!

In all honesty I'm a little surprised any club would allow golfers out when visibility is that restricted - to my mind you shouldn't be hitting further than you can see it, so visibility of 150 yards makes playing a bit of a nonsense.

At the very least clubs should be making sure that everyone who goes out has third party insurance!!

Our club has a marker post down the 10th fairway (probably about 180-200 yards away) and if it can't be seen from the secretary's office or pro shop then the course is shut. I don't see the point in even trying to play as depth perception and yardage judgement must be non-existant.

I'll never play in fog again. 10 years ago one of my playing partners was fell by an approach shot. A thinned 7 iron from 140 yards goes at a fair old rate. The player thought the green was clear as he couldn't hear anything - we were being quiet as one of us lined up a putt.
Golfing in fog is stupid.

Fortunately it was a quiet day and everbody on the course managed to keep their drives straight!

I am also surprised your club let you play. We have a strict rule at our club, if you can’t see a bunker on the 1st 200 yds away the course is closed, no argument. If someone was to be hit in fogy weather the Golf Club would be liable and the Course Manager (me) would be accountable.

Apparently its my responsibility to protect…common sense is not that common as they say.
