Competition cut last week plus an ESR and new handicap was 5.9 - yikes

36 holes club champs yesterday and new handicap is 6.1

Tough day though as started at 8.30am and finally finished at 7.30pm due to storms and our head greenkeeper answering an SOS and squidging (or whatever the word is!!) the flooded greens. Played like a scratch golfer tee to green but a chump on the greens and just couldn't hole a putt. Once I missed a couple of short ones my confidence was shattered and just couldn't do what I have of late and hit positive, confident putts at a good pace into the hole.

First time out in the last group though and knew all I could do was beat my two FC. Lying 3rd at half-way and despite the conditions really held it together - until I had to putt! The tension really grew and very proud of myself for continuing to go for my shots with confidence and sensible aggression. Stood on the 18th looking at a pin 100yds, tucked front and behind 2 bunkers (boy there were tough pins out there) and knew it was perfect wedge distance if I hit the perfect wedge. Went for it 100% and nailed it to 4' - proudest moment of my golfing life - then missed the putt!

So I beat the two I was out with by a few shots but came in 2 shots behind a player in the group in front. Close...but no cigar and a real sense of disappointment for letting the chance to win slip. Damn that time I spent practice putting on the carpet on Friday - wont do that again!

More experience gained though and overall quite proud of myself...better luck next year

Well done Amanda, good to hold two rounds together whilst putting badly. That shows a bit of class.
It is gut wrenching to think you have won and then someone 'unexpected' pops up and takes the glory.
I have had that happen to me a couple of times.

This time next year...................one better eh!

Thanks - hadn't thought of it that way, but yes I exited so many greens with disappointment and frustration but got my head together for the next shot. My putting has been so good of late that I never saw it coming - a temporary blip :)
