999 calling Police.

As a lifetime motorcyclist, I am continually appalled at the mindless damage young louts do to golf courses, cricket pitches, football pitches, and playgrounds.
I would definitely phone 999. If I could stop one, I would, side cutters in hand, cut straight through the throttle cable of the miscreant, just to see the look on his or her face. It will be almost certainly a stolen bike.
I hope no one allies these folk to genuine motorcyclists.
Probably the same people who believe all golfers wear multi-coloured Pringle jumpers and drive Jags and Mercedes.

We have had a fair bit of damage to tees and greens lately by bikes.

We have been told now to call 999 if we see any one on bikes on the course.

I can’t bring myself to call 999 to report a kid on a bike seems OTT.
Apparently we have a dedicated line to the local Police.

Is this a thing I thought 999 was for emergencies only?
I get your point. I was given a local police number to call once but things may have changed. May be worth seeing if the club can obtain one instead.

In the end of the day though. These kids are causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. It’s just hard to comprehend as it’s not damage to a structure.

Wouldn't even hesitate, it's an active crime. Driving home from the course yesterday I saw the black smoke coming up from the field near the course which happens a lot because of ex landfill and fires happen often so didn't think twice just dialled 999 for the fire service. Prob already had a call but better to call than not.

People worry too much about wasting 999 time when they are actually doing the correct thing

Yes but it goes against everything I have been taught over the years.

People calling 999 over a lost remote control.?😳
And that for me Is the reason you call 999, the kids of today were not taught what you have been taught over the years. Respect. Although some kids don’t know respect some do. 👍

I’d call 999. They know they are causing damage, but don’t care. They don’t suddenly become saints when they’re riding elsewhere. It’s not just the course you’re looking to protect from mindless idiots, it’s the wider society.

@clubchamp98 . Any reoccurrence?

Not any damage.
But think it’s more due to the hot weather that’s made the tees and greens very hard so not easily damaged
Still lots of youth on the course.

During Covid the course was opened to the public and I think some still class it as a park even though they pass a private property sign to get in.

Not sure if anyone has actually called 999.

Sadly given the prevalent of youth behaviour and a penchant for carrying knives or physical aggression I would certainly not be taking matters into my own hands and if there was any criminal damage going on I'd call the clubhouse and then 999 and let them get on with it
