To be fair, it's easy to see the headline score and comment without knowing the why. I think the crux comes when we know the why he/she shot so poorly, only then can we really make any comments. It's not fair otherwise, it's just speculation, and that doesnt do anyone any good ;-)

He might have twisted his ankle on the 2nd for example and only been playing as a 2 ball and didnt want to go in because he was marking his partners card, so may not have even played the whole course, or he did hit balls but knew he couldnt play well so played a number of balls per hole knowing he wasnt going to put a good score in. Why did he put his card in then? Well it could be as simple as he didnt know you couldnt not put it in! Or, perhaps he thought if he didnt put his in, his playing partners might not be valid. This would work well with the explanation above quite nicely, but then, its just speculation again. Point is, at this stage we dont know WHY he only got 4 points.

Yes, there is a possibility that the guy is crap too :-D but maybe a little harsh to jump to that conclusion without knowing first...

Our Winter Monthly Medals are Stableford so whats wrong with calling it a stableford medal by the way? Is it not technically correct?

Cheers

Our monthly main medal is stroke play but we also have an "Extra Medal" mid-week once a month which is stableford, why can't it be called a medal?

Because, these days, Medal Play is defined as Strokeplay where you add up the total number of strokes taken. Stableford is a modified scoring system that bears no real relationship to Medal Play with the exception that a Stableford system is used to determine handicaps.

There's a guy in our society who has scored less than 4 points on more than one occasion. His nickname is "Binary" Clive as his scorecards often only contain 0's and 1's. I've played with before when he has scored 2 points, 17 blobs and a 6 for 2.

Let's hear it then Rich - what happened?

....... you couldn't scrape a single point? not even a bogey on a par 3 for a point?

Teeing up on the first I had a twinge in my back, and after hitting my tee shot it went into spasm.:( I signed the card though, otherwise it would have been a NR and 0.1. Nice to know you think I could have played 18 holes without a point in good health though James.:p

Did you think 0 points was going to make the buffer? ;)
