Love my g25 3wood. It's got me out of trouble on a number if occasions. Have 17° and 20° hybrids also.

Of course it's got me into trouble too, but that's my fault.

Used to carry one along with a 19*degree hybrid which I could get just as far as the 15* 3 wood off the deck, if not longer more open than not.

The 3 wood was then used off the tee only and I swapped this out for a 14* Mini at the start of the year

I use a TM burner superfast 3 wood. I don't carry a driver as I have not confidence using one plus my 3 wood goes a fair distance as more often than not its straight

Used to carry a 13* 3 Wood, but swapped it out for a 15* Hybrid which is much more consistent, with a lower piercing flight.. Have lost about 10 yards of distance, but about 50% better for accuracy.. No-brainer really for me..

I have a Ping i20 that I absolutely love, but very rarely use it round my home course. Most of the holes that I might elect not to use a driver on to avoid danger either a 3h or 4i gets me far enough down the fairway to be in range for my second shot.

The only time I'll tend to use it is into the wind as I can hit a lovely low draw with it which cuts through the wind and then runs for miles when it hits the deck, especially now the fairways are firming up.

Just switched (last week) to the Aeroburner mini driver with 16 degree loft.

No confidence with my 3 wood but thought with all the positive comments on here and elsewhere about the minidriver it was worth a punt. I have to say I am very pleased with the resuts so far. Straight and long enough off the tee and easy to hit off the fairway.

I am not using it as a driver replacement as some are - we have 4 holes where driver is too much and more than likley gives you a problem 2nd shot but a good long iron isn't quite enough to give you a decent yardage in. Played with the new MD this weekend and put it in the right place on each hole, also used on one of the par 5's for the 2nd shot to leave a nice wedge in.

Just glad that I have found something i feel I can hit with confidence.

It surprises me that some don't carry a 3 wood. I have never not carried one in 34 years of playing golf. An essential club if you want to reach par 5's in two and a very useful, straighter option from the tee.

A 4 wood is the next best thing.

One of these two in the bag is a must in my opinion.

I've always carried a 3 wood - I absolutely love mine for of the tee when a driver is too much club.

I used to go driver - 4 wood, but tried a 3w and loved the extra few yards it gave me so now go driver - 3w - 5w and sacrificed a wedge.

Tried a "14* SLDR mini" but was getting a very similar outcome to your/my driver problem, we have a 520yd par 5 which I now approach with a 3 wood, 3 wood, 7 iron to leave me either on or at the green for a "chip and a putt" or "2 putt's" for par so I don't really require the driver anymore which is just as well with the way it's been behaving of late !...

Yup and I don't have a "TP" model.

Standard Cobra S3, never the club, always the swing.

Partially agree but in some aspect disagree. My 3w used to be my go to from the tee and when I'm swing well can be ripped off the deck, in a lesson my pro had a smack with it. He commented how off the tee it must be awesome but unforgiving off the deck due to the shape of the sole/face. I recently bagged an Adams which had more or w traditionally shallow face and found the head sat so much closer to the turf on bare lies, and as such gave a lot more confidence over the ball.

I think the thing is that some people just can't launch a 3w off the deck properly so find the extra loft on a 4w easier to use. I've seen many people who hit a 4w as far as a 3w because of this.

Love my 3 wood, although have considered getting a 17* or less hybrid/driving iron just because variety is the spice of life.
