Hello Golf Friends,

My name is Ray and I am coming from Norway ... From 17 - 24 July will I have a tour around in south England.

In the morning of 22 July will I drive up from Bournmouth and stay in/around Guildford ( have not yet booked ).

I have around 12-13 in hc and hope to find some players who fancy a game, after all a good round should contain a bit of banter!.
So in this period 22 - 23 - 24 July will I stay in/around Guildford - but I am mobil!.

Here is some courses I would like to play ...

• Sunnindale Old, • West Byfleet, • Walton Heath, • Sunningdale New, • Wentworth West, • Foxhills, • Reigate Heath, • Liphook, • North Hants

BUT I AM OPEN FOR ALL PROPOSAL FOR OTHER COURSES ...

I did send a letter to Sunningdale where I asked if I could play a round on theirs course, here is their answer;

Dear Ray,
Thanks for the enquiry.
You would be welcome to play the Old Course around 10am but as a Single it would be very slow. The club don’t pair visitors up and we wouldn’t be able to put you with a Member unless you knew one. To book we would need a contact telephone number and address and eventually pre-payment to confirm the tee time.

welcome Ray

you may find some players in that area, and there are many many good courses!

I would recomend the following based on location, access and a flavour of the area -
Camberly Heath
Liphook
Hindhead
Hankley Common

however, if you want to 'tick off' well known courses on a list then I would focus on Walton Heath from your list, but then again the West at Wentworth is obviously 'famous' as well (the East is a much more enjoyable course - but Camberly Heath (which I have just met!) is even better, in the same vein.

West Byfleet is lovely, and I always enjoy playing it, but wouldn't go out of my way.
Forget Foxhills and Reigate Heath, unless you have a personal reason to play them.
I don't know North Hants at all.

Hi Ray

There are 3 very good courses in Bournemouth area, Broadstone Parkstone and Ferndown. You will find the big name courses you listed can be VERY expensive. Sunningdale is about £200 for a round on the Old course and the West course at Wentworth is something stupid like £350 now. There is no way it is worth that kind of money. Most of the good courses in Surrey are now charging about £100 a round.

Yes I know about them courses and some others ...

I will stay in Bournemouth 3-4 days and will probably play one or two of them ...

I don´t have any problem to pay what it cost to play one of the big one, that I don´t want to do is to play alone.

So if I don´t get any playing partners on one of the "big one´s" will I play Liphook, west Byfleet and North Hants or some of they other "good ones".

I am just seeking someone to play with ... I hate to play alone ... Some years ago did I play Ganton alone, and I say never again will I play so good course alone again ...
