I can't find the round 2 leaderboard anymore, but from some comments on X, it looks like Lexi missed by either 1, 2 or 3 shots? Balionis commented she had a 6ft putt on the last to make the cut; other outlets said by 2 and the BBC boldly states she 'narrowly' missed the cut but the article states by 3 (which wouldn't be narrowly). It's not meant to be disparaging, I think she did great and was the only interesting thing about the tournament, she beat an awful lot of male players and it would be interesting to see if she competed at that level over a number of months what would happen to her overall game.

In my golf leaderboard app that I use, it says the cut line was -3, and Lexi was E. So I make that three shots off. Like you, I also saw posts saying she was 1 shot away, which were obviously completely made up for some reason.

Edit: I just searched for some of the posts and they were saying one shot outside the 'projected cut line'. So I guess they jumped the gun a bit and that cut line moved by 2 before the end.

Is there a possibility the Cut was at -1 when she was on 18th hole, and thus she was 1 off he cut. But, as day progressed, it moved to -3?

No idea if she was out early or late on Friday.

It was at -1 when she finished. Had a chip for Eagle which ran past the hole and missed the one back. The talk was it will likely go to -2 at that stage. Must have ended up -3 as the scoring it always low there anyway.

So on the flip side of Lexi playing in the men’s comp, would it be fair for men to play in women’s comps? Part of me says no chance but for balance surely some should be allowed in 🤔
For what purpose?

We just need more mixed comps with tees further forwards for the women, just replicate how most of us are playing comps on a regular basis (handicaps apart) into some pro events.

Money. A jobbing pro in the mens game would win money in the ladies game, strength and distance...........

It's a fine line for the game. Thompson playing in that tournament gave it a load of publicity that it would not have had otherwise, good for the game. They can do that periodically but if it came to be a regular thing then I suspect the PGA players would not be happy with a one way flow of traffic.

The pro game has to be true scratch, no helping out. Anything else doesn't bring out the best golfer over the 3/4 days (do you see what I did there ;) )

Why would a journeyman pro in the male game want to slash his income by swapping to the women’s game?

Lexi is 25th in the rankings, she still managed to beat plenty of male golfers playing off the same tees, that’s credible in my view.
That should be no surprise. She is a very good professional golfer in the ladies game. She isn't an amateur golfer, even very good amateur golfers hit duff shots or very wayward shots from time to time.

So, in a one off mens professional event, assuming she has a good solid performance, then you'd expect her to beat male professional golfers who have a very bad 2 days. Just like when you watch youtube golfers who film their round, have a great round for them and post a score that could well beat a pro golfer who is having a bad day. It doesn't mean that youtuber can suddenly become more competitive in the top mens tour compared to the golfers they could have beat on the day (and Lexi Thompson is very likely going to be much much better than most, if not all youtube golfers.

The biggest factor will always be club head speed. Mclroy has the longest average driving on PGAT at 326.3 yards. In the ladies game, Mack is longest with 281.3 yards. There are only 3 men out of the 186 with a lower average than Mack, and that is McGirt, Lingmerth and Stuard. Stuard's average of 272.2 yards is still longer than the 10th longest woman. Lexi's average distance is 270.1 yards, the 12th best in ladies game. So, she is giving up a lot of yards off the tee, but obviously she'll give up a lot of yards all through the bag, so not only will her approaches be a lot longer, she needs more club to even hit that same yardage compared to the men. Furthermore, I'd imagine hitting the ball out of dodgy rough is easier if you have a lot of strength and club head speed, so another area she'd be at a disadvantage.

I've no issue with women competing with the men from time to time. But, in some respects I'm not sure if it helps or hinders the womens game. If it happened regularly, there is a real danger that the ladies will rarely compete in the top 10, and may generally struggle to make cuts due to their significant disadvantage in the above. Would they generally perform better or worse than amateurs perform, say when they are invited to Majors? If the best ladies struggle to make cuts in the mens game, you know there will people out there that completely slag off ladies golf generally.

Hazard placement often makes this worse. When Sorenstam played on the pga years ago, she stated that male players could carry hazards without risk. Hazards that she could reach but not carry, so she had to lay up.

So, not only were the men hitting it 40 past her driver, most of the holes she was being forced to hit a 5 wood!!

Ive always said in relation to roll back, for all the complainers saying courses are obsolete and not a proper challenge, as the ball goes to far. So support the roll back to see courses played how they were designed. Well, thats the LPGA every week, no one watches, it's never allowed on decent courses, it's never on tv. We are literally in the perfect place, we can have our cake and watch people drive it 400 yards, and eat it, by watching the women play classic courses as designed.

But we cant, because we'd rather ignore the women.....
