1st tee honour....how do you decide??

It's actually in the rules :- 10-1 & 10-2 cover both matchplay and strokeplay (stableford is strokeplay by definition !)

Strictly speaking the honour is based on the draw on the first tee, then gross scores thereafter, providing someone wins a hole outright. If two or more people tie, the honour does not change, even if that means the highest score retains it.

Competitions we use lowest handicap in the group

Our bounce games we use lowest handicap too

Matchplay I usually toss a tee up and who it points to gets the honour , sometimes toss a coin too

Usually, for any comps that have a draw sheet, once we get on the 1st tee we all ask, "who's first on the sheet?"

Everyone looks blank and stands their ground as no-one wants to run back to the comps board. Finally someone will break rank "f**k it, I'm ready so I'll go!"

Sound familiar to anyone else? :D

Either by the start sheet or the lowest handicap for comps.

Bounce games who ever is ready first.

Tee is always won by lowest gross.

In medal/stableford competitions we go from the order on the start sheet. In matchplay, we toss a coin or do tee in hand etc. Socially, we tend to just play "ready golf" i.e. whoever is ready first will go. Saves any hold ups.
