1st game with the new bats!

Yep, went out with the new bats (and cart bag) today. We went to a course new to me. The problem was that I was hitting the driver well and, when I did, most of the long irons were redundant. I hit mainly wedges/gap wedges/lob wedges as most of the holes were reasonably short.

There were 2 long par 4's where I then had to hit rescue clubs in. Therefore I didn't hit 5,6,7 irons at all, and only a few 8 and 9 irons. I hit the 4 iron on a couple of par 3's and it was sweet to hit.

I was happy with my game and the clubs but the real test will be on Sunday when we have a 4BBB winter league match to give them a real test.

So nice to get out at last though!

The course was ok but the greens were very slow,wet and spongy so I scored 34 points

34 points is excellent for this time of year, especially with new clubs.

That is good scoring on a course you haven't played. There will be plenty of time to go through the bag and use all of the clubs in anger but if you are only using thes hort irons a lot of the time you must be doing something right. Great way to end 2010

It's a round that may have saved me £300!

I was toying with the idea of changing to the Titleist 910 driver but, following a small swing change last night at the range, I hit my Calloway FT9 with a much better trajectory and it may just stay in the bag for a while.
