I think the angle with Koepka is that he just says things as he sees them. The Majors are everything to him and he would rather maximise Majors and focus solely on getting right for them, than spend time trying to win domestic tournaments. Whose Major record is anywhere near his from the 2017...
He's undoubtedly a fantastic player and has all the attributes required to be an OWGR top 50 elite player. That first win must be soon, but personally I like the way that he's competitive across a number of different styles of golf course. That bodes very well. An outsider for Team Europe next year.
I think Rory's comments were powered from frustration of losing the Pro-Am with his dad, more than through any real grievance. At the end of the day, he picks his own schedule and knows what ET events play tough and which are more stretching.
In this day and age, tournament organisers could easily take control of the situation. With an official stationed on the tee box, as soon as it becomes clear a drive is errant and in danger of cleaning out a spectator have the ability to blow a horn or have an audible device! Not rocket science.
I actually prefer the PG Championship to the U.S. Open these days, which has turned into a Mike Davis power-trip. Bethpage as a Par 70, will be a stern enough test, and the PGA of America, will simply let the course sort them out - it's such a great course, that single-digits under will win it.
Great play from Rory Mc and we can't say we didn't see it coming. Played solidly, whilst others in the final 2 groups went backwards. of note he's now won on 3 of the current PGA Tour Florida courses, in PGA National, Bay Hill and now TPC Sawgrass.
